Bear with me being thick but the players can’t practice social
distancing. Are they just expected to risk it coz they are young
and fit and are pretty unlikely to die? What does their union
say?

They earn money for playing. If they don't play, then they will
need to find boring day jobs.
So, I suspect that most will take the risk.
As they say - " if a man will not work, he shall not eat."

I was under the impression all players etc will be tested before
training/games resume

I agree with this, the clubs will have the ability to test
players an drew playing support staff before commencing contact
training. Full strength and fitness conditioning can be done
virtually or using social distancing.

What on Earth is this about? An unnecessary and irrelevant
political insult in the middle of a discussion about the
challenges of getting rugby restarted and getting the players
back to a condition to be able to play.

tbh.

As things stand, the sport has to be secondary to people's
health. Of course we want to get back to watching. Of course the
players want to play. But this is a long way from being under
control, and until/unless we get an effective vaccine, I can't
see how a contact sport like this can be brought back especially
as it can be asymptomatic. The first case that occurs as a
result of a faulty test or inadequate screening is going to be
devastating.
Until we are much further into this, I can't see how it can
restart. Plan by all means, but have plans B, C, D etc. in
place, as this virus is not following any rules.
The fun thing will be if we have any anti-vaccine
supporters...(i.e. those who choose not to vaccinate, rather
than those who cannot for medical reasons). I'd be very happy to
see them banned from getting into the ground!

If they opened up at the start of next season and said 'business
as usual', who would actually not go?
