I'd go for knock out with advantage given to current top 4 as of
match week 11.
Round one (top 4 get a round bye):
Game 1: 5th v 12th (auto win for 5th place as series relegated.
Game 2: 6th v 11th
Game 3: 7th v 10th
Game 4: 8th v 9th
Round 2:
Game 5: 1st Vs winner game 4
Game 6: 2nd Vs winner game 3
Game 7: 3rd Vs winner game 2
Game 8: 4th Vs winner game 1
Semi finals:
Game 9: winner game 5 Vs winner game 8
Game 10: winner game 6 Vs winner game 7
Final:
Game 11: winner game 9 Vs winner game 10.
4 matches, 4 weeks, season done. Results run as a mini league
table also for top six qualification from round 2.
Makes sense?

And, if only 3 weeks available, then exclude 9 to 12 and just
let them play their own semis/final for a plate competition

I think they could do 4 games in 3 week if push came to shove, 5
days between matches is possible but not ideal but it is an
option.
Otherwise top eight only in a knock format out over 3 rounds.
Plenty of the tasty matches for bt sport and welcome revenue for
the club's as you would expect sell outs! If we can watch at the
grounds of course.

Premiership clubs working towards resuming 2019-20 season in
July

All 12 Premiership teams have nine regular-season matches left
to play following the suspension of the season in March
Clubs in rugby union's Premiership are working towards a
best-case scenario of returning to action on the weekend of 3-5
July and accept midweek games would be needed, BBC Sport
understands.
The plans involve a month of training before the first match and
would build to a final, ideally at Twickenham if it is
available, on 15 August.
However, plans rely on social distancing guidelines easing, and
access to coronavirus tests and emergency services for all
involved being supported by the government.
Premiership Rugby sources said they were not interested in
"buying testing via private routes" and would "never take
resources away from the public needs".
The dates that are being worked towards would involve several
midweek games. That is understood to have the approval of BT
Sport and the clubs, who are keen to complete the season after
it was suspended in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Every game would be televised.
Clubs have also discussed different possibilities for where to
stage matches in what will be a condensed schedule.
Although Twickenham could be used as a neutral venue or a venue
for multiple fixtures, and has the necessary medical facilities
and pitch quality, clubs have acknowledged this plan will fall
down if London is kept in lockdown for longer than elsewhere.
Twickenham is also currently being used as a drive-through
coronavirus testing centre.
It is understood that no formal conversations have taken place
between Premiership Rugby and the Rugby Football Union, but
there is an openness to talks.
There could also be a double-header fixture of the Premiership
final and the Premiership Rugby Cup final if no team is involved
in both.
However, one source suggested the contact nature of rugby, the
handling of the ball and the presence of bodily fluids like
saliva and blood could mean rugby takes longer to return than
other sports.
During a recent World Health Organization webinar, the director
of medicine at the NBA said: "There are certain things that are
going to be very difficult.
"For example, in the sport of basketball, what about the
basketball itself? How well can we disinfect the basketball? As
soon as it comes back into play, people are handling it."
Premiership Rugby bosses have been in regular contact with the
government about drawing up a protocol that helps sport return
safely without having an impact on NHS needs.
The preference is for a unified position for all sport to
follow.
Rugby's return-to-play protocol has been agreed with the Rugby
Players' Association, and is largely in line with that produced
by World Rugby.
It involves two weeks of individual training and four weeks of
impact training before the first match.

Dutch have just suspended their sporting season until 1/9/2020..
we are behind them in recovery rate so no way is this season
getting finished in July

regarding cancelling finals and other events.
But, I can't really give much detail as I don't speak the lingo

I don't see how this could realistically work. Also it is highly
possible that the illegally assembled salary cheats could win
the title

The Irish Republic have announced a ban on all mass gatherings
over 5000 people until at least 1st September 2020.
That has meant there will be no All Ireland Hurling and Gaelic
Football this year, and they are considerably below the level of
deaths in England of course. Not sure how they have come up with
the 5000 figue but maybe it is a start. I do think the
temperature check could be a start and I would also expect and
hope any of us who felt unwell would keep away as well.
My old fellow lives in the west (i keep looking for Mad Max
-does he still live there?) so I keep a close eye on whats going
on there.
