Was the performance as bad as the score would suggest?

Worries me that Sale beat Castre away shows how the’ve
Progressed, i know and expect the transformation under Gussy
will not be instant but still feel disappointed we’re so far off
the pace. Even putting 50 on Ealing will to mean its fixed.

Well, I was hoping that playing a club that contained half the
Scotland team (well not half but you know what I mean) would
explain our poor performance. Then I read that Glasgow were
missing/not playing some 20 internationals.
I think maybe I was too optimistic thinking Gustard was going to
come in and have an instant effect. That looked like any game
from the second half of last season. The opposition wanted it
more than we did and we just watched them get on with it.
Uuuuuuuurrrrggghhhhhhh! [emoji35]

Seems like it may well take some time to fix the club.
This has gone on for more than a couple of years now, but there
has obviously been something deeply wrong with the culture at
the club from top to bottom. The signs have all been there - the
poor discipline, poor defence, lack of appetite when compared to
others. We haven’t changed the playing personnel that much and
some of those players have been at the club their whole career.
Change will be hard.
I’m not panicking after 1 poor pre-season result, but our form
in the second half of last season was that of relegation fodder
and we have no momentum going into the new season.
Am slowly adjusting my expectations and hoping this year just
not to get relegated as long as we see progress in attitude and
more fundamental changes in the squad to build for the future.

Sale did bear Castres but picked up 2 red cards in the process,
one for everybody's hero, Ashton.

It's also really important, to put pre-season into
perspective... Treviso beat Leicester and Newcastle beat
Leinster. Scarlets also beat Bristol (with all of their stars;
Smith, Madigan, Leiua, Lam, Afoa, Luatua, Pisi, Stirzaker,
Thacker)
I don't expect players to be in the same frame of mind for a
pre-season game and when you tweak a few small things at elite
level, you can get very big changes.
Not worried in the slightest and looking forward to the Ealing
game and Sale on the 1st! :D
