Newcastle don't seem to be much better so perhaps the 10 team
premiership thats been touted is a possibility still.

Fewer teams improves our chances of winning the Premiership :-)
Fewer teams also improves our chances of being relegated :-(

football where the vast majority of income comes from TV.
However, it may be less appropriate for rugby where clubs rely
on selling tickets, food and drink, and this would be lost if
the game were solely on TV.

I thought one of the issues was that the BT money only gets paid
if they can show matches. It might not be as large as football
but it's still a huge source of revenue for the clubs.

I cant see any games going ahead, even behind closed doors. No
medical/ambulance staff are going to be able to be present, no
resources. My wife is a nurse, as it stands the trust she is
working for (she is a bank nurse, bit like being freelance) has
600 staff off ill or isolating. Making people available for
sport will be way down their priorities

Rob Baxter was on BT Rugby Today yesterday and he thinks it
would be feasible with double headers and playing 2 matches a
week. He is on the board of Exeter as well as DOR. Chiefs are
still a Members Club with Tony Rowe as biggest shareholder.

Do they really think there's enough players fit & in condition
in all the clubs ready to play 2 games a week after what will be
weeks of what will be something akin to the fitness training
that went on in the amateur era?

As long as everyone's done the same amount of training it
shouldn't matter. Maybe we need a Training Cap.

Except that less training and physio treatment will inevitably =
more injuries. Especially if they're playing 2 games per week.
It's nonsense and the fact that these ideas are being given the
light of day shows how desperate they are for some kind of
revenue.

Yeah, I wasn't being entirely serious.

Well Rob thinks 2/3 weeks training and then just play with no
training which many players would enjoy as they hate training!
Let’s hope one of the things they don’t train for is the
wretched caterpillar and ban box kicking and arguing with the
ref.
