Sarries want a higher salary cap but are one of the first clubs
to cut wages when rugby isn’t being played.
Strange because I keep getting told that the reason they pay
their players so much is that they are really nice and really
       care about their players.
This makes it seem like they are just paying those wages because
they want to win rugby games.
       I must be mistaken.

So far, it’s five clubs who are cutting wages by 25%:
       Gloucester
       Saracens
       Wasps
       Worcester
       Leicester

Lots of people are facing wage cuts, or lay offs. What makes
       rugby players more important?
I have some sympathy for them the same as I do for others, but
my company is in dire straights too. All my bookings for the
next 3 weeks are already cancelled and the phone hasn't ring for
       days.....

You are correct, but at the same time I am sure these players
have dependents and mortgages themselves. Not all of them are
       like Farrell, Itoje, Tuillgi etc

Premiership rugby players are in the upper echelons of earnings.
They can afford 25% better than most.

Rocker, sorry to hear you are facing tough times. But to answer
your question... I think people are focussing on the rugby
players because this is a rugby forum. They’re not necessarily
more important, but sure to be the focus of discussion on here.
Personally I’m a bit void of sympathy for anyone other than
those affected by serious health complications (directly or
       indirectly).
Certainly no sympathy for the likes of Farrell who will be
earning a measly 600k instead of his usual 800k basic salary.

What makes rugby players more important?
Well would what you do for a living get 15,000 people out of
their seats at the same time?

Would that apply to doctors and nurses too in your argument?
