It was a fantastic match and a very surprising result! Smith and
Dommers were great, Robshaw was as ever a total pain to Exeter
at breakdown time, J Chisholm carried hard all match, our line
out went well but the best was our scrum! 👏 The whole
front 5 crew were excellent, even Auterac's silly yellow can be
       forgiven!

What, the one where Exeter had a 4 on 2? He's one on two and
trying to cover both sides. He would have hoped to make the
tackle but it wouldn't have stopped the try.
The only reason they were anywhere near the tryline was The
following players missing tackles in the build up :
       Lasike
       Morris
Ibitoye's special needs 'wave them through' tackle on the wing
       Ismaiel

Presumably you’ve pulled the 4 missed tackles off a stat page
somewhere rather than having forensically analysed the footage.
I’ve watched it back and there are 3 scenarios in which Ismael
doesn’t make a tackle - one of them I already covered (from the
kick), another was on the Simmonds try where he was defending a
4 on 2 (again already mentioned above). The third he rushed out
of the line to put a hit on Simmonds (8) and didn’t get him down
but managed to turn him inside, preventing them from going round
us. I don’t think he did anything wrong in those three
       situations.
So I’ll stick to my original comment that I don’t think he did
anything wrong. I was watching. Were you? Because your posts
give no insight or analysis, they’re just a bit rude.

As defensive leader who plays 12 Ismael made the wrong decision
to step in and Simmonds kept drifting round him. They probably
would have scored but he wouldn’t have been at fault.

You are just plain wrong on this one. Simmonds is in front of
       him, Lasike has taken the dummy runner and there's a huge gap;
he's trying to cover a whole load of space on his own. Simmonds
can go either way. Danny Care is just starting to cover the
line which may be what makes Simmonds choose the outside.
Ismaiel has no decent options here.

I mean he turns his whole body so he’s facing the sideline why
would Simmonds not step out and drift round him. Travis over
committed to the inside. If you let the tape run Lasike is
drifting back across and would cover the inside. You have to
trust your inside man. His tackling bar the Dollman in the in
goal area was terrible. I’m sure Travis will be the first to
       admit his mistakes yesterday.

There’s no way you can blame Ismaiel for that.
I’ve called it a 4 on 2 but you could easily call it a 4 on 1 as
Morris is caught unawares and in no mans land. Lasike and Care
won’t get across in time, so Ismaiel can’t drift and leave the
inside empty. It’s an impossible position to defend. We could
have had Brown, Robshaw or any other player in that position and
it would be the same result.
There were a lot of poor missed tackles in the game - this
       really wasn’t one of them.
Edit - having just watched it again it is fair to say Ismaiel
checks in more than he needed to, which did make it easier for
Simmonds. I can see what you mean in that sense. However, I
don’t think it affects the end result, there was no way he could
       stop them from there.

I’m not saying Ismael would have stopped the try, as you say
       it’s a 4 v 2 any team should score that.
My point is that he makes a poor decision defensively. If he
makes a better decision and stops his man from scoring but they
ship the ball and the overlap scores then no one can blame him.
He was not alone as you say in making some poor
       tackles/decisions defensively.
My only optimism is that once we have more players back that
competition for places will drive performance up and we get some
       sort of consistency defensively.
Glad we have had a good debate with no name calling. Always a
good discussion when opinions and differ.

I agree with comments about James Chisholm, I’ve long been a fan
and see him as next years captain. His work rate is phenomenal
