       Ben Glynn

Just been announced Saints have signed Ben Glynn as 2nd row
injury cover. Any thoughts on this player as he was with Quins
       until relatively recently?

       I liked him.
Set your expectations - He wasn't as good as James Horwill for
       instance.
But, he seemed to be always available - even when half of our
       team were seemingly injured.
And, we also played him in the back row.
So, basically, not the best player in the world.
But, also, not the worst - and quite dependable.
I reckon that he is good injury cover.

I agree. Solid and dependable. Decent squad player.

Solid and dependable and I think he improved considerably during
his time with us. At the end I'd happily have kept him as a
squad player. Not first choice, but not someone I'd worry to see
       in the team.

He took a while to adjust to our style of play so wasn't a fan
favourite in his early performances but became a solid and
dependable squad player who got plenty of opportunities due to
       injuries.
As said above he was rarely injured (a big plus for Quins...)
and I was disappointed that he was released, not because I saw
him as a starter but because of his reliability. I've seen
nothing in Toby Freeman and Glen Young to indicate that we have
traded up on him with recent signings.
He spent much of the summer without a contract, so I was pleased
that he got signed by Ospreys. Seems like he is the embodiment
of the precarious nature of the modern rugby career. Hopefully
he has a club next season.

thought he did really well considering he was back up and was in
and out of the squad, when he got a run of games he played
really well, a very decent squad player, wont set the world
alight but didnt let us down and competed really well, I was
sorry to lose him actually as thought he was a decent back up to
       have.

I was disappointed and felt he ought to have played more. Always
       worked hard.

A good, quality squad man. Never shirked the hard graft and
always gave his all. Grew into the squad over time and I was
sorry we let him go. Always liked him and was happy to see him
       on the team sheet.

Many thanks guys that's reassuring. Ben's on the bench against
Chiefs on Sunday, a bit of a baptism of fire!

Isn't there a bit of a contradiction in those two paragraphs? If
Glynn took a while to adapt it seems unfair to expect Freeman (3
appearances) and Young (11 @ around 50 minutes per game) to
perform to their full potential early.
Anyway, glad to see Big Ben keeping busy.
