       Francis Saili

Just heard Chris Jones on the BBC podcast say Saili is still a
marquee player for us. He's played 32 games since he joined in
2017 (many off the bench) . Perhaps explains some of our issues
       with strengthening.

Yes, I heard that too. Astonished is an understatement!

He’s been a sick note for a while now. Terrible signing taking
       that into account.

I accept that you can't legislate for injuries, but I do wonder
how often we really get full value for money on some of our big
       name signings.

Fair to say he’s eclipsed Stuart Abbott for a being a waste of
money with injuries. Hopefully he can be culled so we can save
some money as the wedge he’s is at a detriment for the club
       improving long term

I'm not surprised he's in as a marquee player but yes, it's fair
to say injuries have meant it really really hasn't worked out at
       all.

How does he compare with Paul Sackey? I don’t think I ever saw
       him play.

We are upholding a long tradition of big name signings failing
to deliver. The only ones who really have lived up to
expectations that I can remember are Snapper and Bomb.
We are so much better at finding unheralded players and getting
the most out of them. Just off the top of my head, Ross, Easter,
Kohn, Strettle, Care, Big Mo, Gomars and now the likes of
Morris, Semi, Symonds, Dombrandt and Northmore have all
delivered far in excess of their billing.
You can't legislate for injuries, but we do seem to be better at
getting the most out of the underappreciated than buying in
       thoroughbreds.

Wasn’t Gomars an international by the time he came to us in the
twilight of his career? Big Mo too? Can’t be certain but Danny
must have played England U20 surely? My point is, we are at
least as good as uncovering duds as we are hidden
gems.....there’s a long long list that’s not worth starting as
this thread might go all wrong!
And, back to the thread, IMHO Saili is a cut above most centres,
but injury, lack of game time and a general lack of team form
have, I’d suggest, robbed him of showing that extra bit of class
he has. So far, at least, although he was excellent Bath away
       last season.
