HARLEQUINS NAME SIDE FOR LONDON DERBY
DIR By: never sleep
Date: January 24, 2020, 6:00 am
---------------------------------------------------------
PAUL GUSTARD AND HIS COACHING GROUP HAVE NAMED THE HARLEQUINS
SIDE TO RUN OUT AT THE STOOP ON SUNDAY AGAINST LONDON RIVALS,
SARACENS.
Harlequins’ side for the Gallagher Premiership fixture sees Club
Captain Chris Robshaw return to the squad at flanker alongside
the in-form James Chisholm who captained the side last weekend
against ASM Clermont Auvergne.
Matt Symons and Stephan Lewies will re-form their partnership in
the tight five which will also feature Elia Elia returning at
hooker and centre Paul Lasike also returns from injury.
Head of Rugby at Harlequins, Paul Gustard said: “This weekend’s
derby against Saracens will, as always, be a keenly contested
match. We have great respect for Saracens as a rugby team and
know we will have to be at our best to get the result we want.
“Both sides have equal numbers of players out due to injuries or
internationals and will be fully focused on the 23 men on the
field, and the 80 minutes at The Stoop. We want to continue to
develop our game and move on up. We’ve had another good week
training, in preparation for this match, and we are confident
going into the game with the support from our fans who we hope
to turn up in full voice.”

Nice touch about respecting Saracens as a team not just
respecting Saracens.

A real shame not to be able to put out a better side for this
match, although I guess the only ones we are really missing are
the props - but I think we might struggle at scrum time.

Decent team given injuries and 6 nations. I had a feeling that
lasike, elia, symons and lewies would miraculously recover.
Can't wait

Yes, it's good team that gives us our best shot of a really good
win.
The bench has options too. Kerrod, Cavubati and Kunatani can all
add something in the last half an hour or so, if called upon.
Penny, Herron and Landajo impressed last week as well.
It's going to be great. Odd but great! Can't wait until
Sunday!!!

Given the injury list, that's a good side. There's some real
strength in depth in the forwards now, but it hurts to look at
the backline we could put out without injury.
It will be interesting to see what Sarries field. They're down
most of a pack to internationals and injuries but their backline
will be impressive. Also, it will be telling to see their mental
attitude: when all you have to play for is the Champions Cup, I
would be willing to bet that they will be less willing to put
their bodies on the line for a fixture that will make no
difference to their season.

Personally think Herron is unlucky to miss out, thought he was
outstanding last week.

Yes, I agree. While they will no doubt be up for it beforehand
and will be professional during the game, you have to wonder if
they will go the extra mile, and then some, to make tackles,
compete at the breakdown, etc. It will be a subconscious thing,
depending on how strong their sense of pride and determination
is. It's difficult to gauge.
Really, if our own mentality is right, we have the ability in
our team to do something special.
Laskie v Barritt is great. Gabs and Ross v Lewington and Segun
is also interesting, as is Care v Wigglesworth. Looking at the
teams, it could be Dombradt who makes the difference for us.
Fingers crossed!

I'm sure Sarries will be up for it. Danny and Chris have been
fairly vocal, we apparently sent PRL a dossier on our
suspicions, some players playing for new contracts

It's a non-match though. An honest club playing a club that is
cheating.
