Sarries promotion next year

What seems to have been that overlooked by many is that to be
promoted from the championship a club needs to be compliant with
the cap for the 2 previous seasons.
Assuming that Sarries are over the cap this season- does that
mean 2 seasons in the championship?

It's been mentioned on other Saracens threads.

I have heard this mentioned on a few podcasts (Eggchasers, Flats
and Shanks and BBC (I think)). Although, I haven't seen it
mentioned in the written press, but I may have missed it.
It's definitely something that their star players will want to
take into consideration. The whole thing is quite bizarre and
the repercussions appear to continue for quite a while (2 years
at least, in terms of promotion back to the Premiership!)
Additionally, there has also been talk of Tax inspectors maybe
needing to get involved, which then moves the situation into the
potentially criminal. I know people have posted about it on this
forum.
I am pleased that the cheating has been exposed. I just hope our
game can move on from this pretty quickly and restore a bit of
dignity.

This was discussed on the thread from DOKs reply #191 onwards.

In summary, the rules seem to suggest that Sarries can't come
back up.
However, people who are probably more intelligenter than wot I
am suggest that this rule doesn't apply to Sarries next season
and they can bounce back up.
I guess that there is also a secondary point though - and that
is.
If they are over the cap this season (which by all accounts they
are), then they will be investigated again later this year and
will get another fine and are liable for another points
deduction. I have read the rules - but I can't remember how the
point deduction would happen. But, I can't imagine that it
would apply to the Championship.

Pretty sure it has been announced that they can come up after
one year and that it will only be an issue if they are found to
be in breach next year during their season in the championship.
However as mentioned if they get reviewed this year at the end
of the season and get another points deduction who knows what
will happen. But I am assuming that by taking relegation for
essentially breaches this year that they wont get a points
deduction on top of that.

A source for that would be handy, as I haven't seen that stated
anywhere

We understand that Saracens will NOT have to spend two years in
the Championship to prove they are compliant. There was
confusion spread over this. Hopefully this clears that up.

I know RIL are not the best but this does seem to be legit and
in the thread for the tweet it is mentioned that the confusion
was around a typo (or non update) of dates which essentially
mean upon promotion you make a declaration (e.g. looking
forward) for the coming season and then provide the
certification from the season just ended that you where
compliant

Thanks - appreciate it! That's a pretty poor typo from whoever
was drafting the regulations.

Agreed, can't say that the PRL are covering themselves in glory
at any point really throughout this whole process

Nick Easter has a different view, but one aspect of his view
would indicate that the 2 year compliance thing cannot correct.
Ie. There is no salary cap in the championship so why would
clubs feel a need to comply with a cap that doesn’t apply to
them.
