This is telling me that Saracens are still over the cap
otherwise they would not need to do anything. It is positive -
if it happens - that they are finally doing something. It also
appears to show that Wreay was happy to break the cap right up
to the point he ‘left’. If/when Saracens are found cheating
again this season then they should be automatically relegated
and fined another £10 million. If they keep doing it then a ban
is the only solution.

Well, I have to say I like the sound of what Griffiths is
saying. It does sound as if he's serious about cleaning the
Augean stable that is Saracens salary cap issues. Of course the
proof of the pudding is in the eating, but it sounds like he's
serious about addressing the perception that Saracens are
cheating as well as the fact they might still be cheating.

Aren’t Sarries the victims here? They have done so much for
rugby. If it wasn’t for Nigel Wray we’d all still be living in
caves. Etc etc... Some of them genuinely think they have been
wronged somehow.
More to come on this it seems. Just hope it is sorted and
finalised by the end of the season or serious bunfights could
ensue.

Maybe we can bid for Alex L as injury cover for our centres?
He gets little game time and is a bloody good player that we
could really do with in our centres.

Some Player Loan/Dual Registration deals might be a solution?
Also, it is worth noting that Griffiths is only the interim CEO
and a new Chairman is to be appointed shortly.

Interesting to read that the salary cap isn't based on the
annual salaries , only on what is paid out on a month by month
basis .
Therefore ( in theory ) you could pay a fortune for the first
half of the season and then move people out before the salary
cap ceiling was breached ( which is the exercise that Sarries
will go through now , as providing the total payout is under the
cap by the end of June , what they have paid up to now this
season is irrelevant )
Might account for why it suits Quins for Marchant to have 6
months away ? ( Im not sure if his salary is still being paid by
Quins)
Salary cap laws clearly designed by contract lawyers and
forensic accountants to keep them occupied .

It sounds good but wasn't he in charge when they first cheated
and always said they were within the cap?

The potential pitfall is that a player will have to agree to a
move. If he doesn't, the club will still be contracted to pay
the higher salary. Could prove interesting, if only to see which
players they're willing to upset.

I think we are all reading too much into this
As Stephen Jones the messiah of rugby journalists said
They all just want to play for the great club and aren’t just
there for money
So all bound to take a pay cut and stay there
Of course some of them may also get “Sponsorship or consultancy
positions “ on a part time basis, who knows with a property
developer that has no “ Official” tie to the club
