Whilst that seems sensible (surprisingly for you, Dangly), I
can't imagine many players would accept that. The nature of
rugby means that such injuries can happen to anyone at any time.
What would define "injury prone"? Far more likely is that the
club or player has some kind of insurance, which is definitely
the case in football.

We always seem to have injury problems at centre. Not sure what
we do them!

FWIW, Did'nt have many last season, hence Cheeseman did'nt get a
look in at all in 2018/19

How does that work vis a vie the Salary Cap as you are getting
funds in from an external (Insurance) source?

No idea. From a player's perspective, I guess it's to do with
having a career ending or limiting injury. From a club
perspective, I assume it would relate to having to pay a player
when we don't get injury dispensation?

Due to the physical nature of rugby and the frequency of
injuries I doubt there is any insurances that is worthwhile for
anything short term. I looked into getting some self employment
insurance a while ago and it wasn’t worth having due to the
minimum time of 20 odd weeks of not working to get half your
wages and 40+ to get your full wages. Then there are more
exclusions than inclusions. There may be medical schemes to pay
for operations as I can’t imagine them waiting for an NHS one.
The player would still be being paid by the club as per
his contract so wouldn’t affect the cap. A player has to be out
for three months minimum to qualify the club for injury cover of
a player of similar or lower standard.(not sure who decides
that)
I think there might be a maximum you can spend, not sure, but
it’s outside the cap.
