I have come to the same conclusion. If he is off and he is not
100% committed (1 serious injury could ruin his big move), he
should be nowhere near the team.
We need to invest in our young tight heads, use the Sinkers
salary cap to bring in a non-English tight head, who can play
80% of games. Hopefully with money left over the re-distribute
for a new scrum-half or two.

He’s so good at his best but after his last few panto villain
appearances, have to conclude it would be a positive for the
team if he left now. He’s not playing for the team and strikes
me he can’t wait to be on his way to get down the M4 to collect
the enhanced pay cheque he believes he so thoroughly deserves.

I for one will be very disappointed to see Sinckler go, if that
is what is happening. He doesn't owe us anything apart from the
best performances he can produce for the rest of his contract.
If there is a breakdown in the relationship between him and the
club, that's worrying. If he's leaving for more money, I can't
blame him (I've left a few jobs for more money in my time) but
I'm annoyed at the perverse incentives the salary cap and
marquee player system produces. Either way, I'm not going to
knock him unless and until there is some clear evidence he has
behaved badly towards us.

If - and it's a big if - the difficulty in offering him more
money is due to the cap, then it's a shame. But unless we can
shuffle our marquee player status around, there's not much we
can do. Kyle is still young and hopefully has many years ahead
of him. Make hay while the sun shines.

As Mark Evans has said on the latest Ruck podcast, teams will
struggle to hang onto there top players if they perform well.
Sinclair has been the form right head in world rugby of late.
As Evans said, sometimes under a salary cap, you have to move
big players on.

I guess the frustration, being a Quins fan as most of us are, is
that we arguably have one big player and we can't hold onto him!
We seem to be the perennial "in development/in transition/work
in progress/tonnes of potential" team. Whereas Saracens are
making moves to come under the cap whilst still talking about
keeping hold of all of Vunipola, George, Itoje, other Vunipola,
Farrell and Daly...
I trusted Gussy when he talked about bringing squad numbers down
- quality over quantity. That's what Quins have never quite
mastered in terms of compiling a seriously talented squad, bar
those couple of very good seasons.
Then he went and made up the numbers with, just to name a few of
the horde, the likes of Glen Young, Toby Freeman, Travis
Ismaiel, an ancient Niki Goneva. He threw a complete 180 and now
we have a squad filled out with players who make me wince when I
see their names on the team sheet. The re-signings of Phil
Swainston and Ross Chisholm just confirmed to me that his talk
had been just that. Either he'd had a recruitment strategy that
had completely unravelled - or he really believes that
"coachability" trumps raw ability. The sooner Quins realise that
some players are born special and that these players haven't
been coached into these bodies, the better.
I'm gutted Sinckler's off and surprised that many people on here
are suggesting he's easily replaceable by the likes of Williams,
Balmain etc. No, that is a drop off in quality. Sinckler is
exactly the type of player a club aspiring to win things would
be keeping hold of.

Not sure if it has been picked up in other threads but according
to Ruck.co.uk Quins have an interest in Jonny May as well as
Saracens.

Pretty much any tight head is a drop off in quality compared to
an in form Sinckler.
