Squad Contract Situations?
DIR By: JD2019

Now we are in January I wanted to understand how many of the
current squad have contracts which end at the end of this
season?
Is this easily available as I know we had around 16 new recruits
in the summer & are there any on 1 season deals?
Just trying to understand why the squad seems so unhappy at the
minute - are the club trying to resign some of the old guard on
much reduced contracts. Have others been told to start looking
for new clubs?

If the squad is unhappy about something that happens every year
at every club then either we have a group of thin skinned
players or the way it’s being done is really poor.

Why do we think the squad is unhappy? Seems to me most are keen
and engaged.

Ok controversial time.
I would not offer new contracts to Care or Brown. They've been
great servants to the club but not going to give us more great
years. They may get a French contract for a year or two to
supplement their pension.
Now the really controversial one, I'd include the second
greatest Quin of all time, Captain Fantastic. He deserves a
better end to a magnificent career and having been denied
England glory due to sub standard coaches and Lions glory by a
nepotistic t**t, deserves a shot at glory elsewhere rather than
being the most outstanding player in a poor side.
The money that will free up could secure Sinckler, Smith,
Murley, Marchant and Ibitoye and being in some better players
alongside them.
I know this may seem like heresey but we can't seem to rebuild
with any consistency and when the salary cap gets lifted again
(or scrapped when ringfencing comes in) we'll need the money.

Out of all the people mentioned I think only Robshaw and
Sinckler’s contracts are up this year.
Care has one more year, Brown two and all the youngsters have
resigned recently.

You must be watching a different set of the old guard who downed
tools to get rid of Kingston. Many similarities in the last
couple of games & could see it happening again to get rid of
Gussy & the hopeless supporting coaches.
Some of the newer intake do seem up for it I agree.

If (and a big if) the "old guard" did down tools to get rid of
Kingston and are doing the same to Gustard then the very first
thing Gustard or his successor should so is to show them the
door. Players should be more concerned with playing for the club
that pays them than not playing for people they don't like.

Really hope we are not going for another clear out. Apart from
reducing the amount of the salaries I don’t want any of the old
guard to go - it is all very well but who would replace Care?
England is very short of scrum halves. As said above I don’t
think his contract is up anyway or Brownie. Both bring a huge
amount to the team and Club behind the scenes and this would be
folly in my opinion. What sort of club do you want Quins to be?
