What’s wrong with the current coaching setup? To me it seems the
best we’ve had in years. Motive?

Most disappointing thing for me is that I thought some our most
experienced players really let us down tonight.
Marler - when the chips are down instead of manning up and
knuckling down instead he behaves like a child and gets binned.
No wonder Sinckler ends up in a similar frame of mind when
things are going wrong if this is the example set.
Care - spent most of the game complaining instead of getting his
hands dirty in the ruck and kicked away a scoring chance in
their 22 when the ref had clearly said the advantage was over.
De Klerk being out should have given him a chance to dominate
and he failed to take it.
Ross - missed tackles, taking the ball into touch when catching.
Basic stuff an FB needs to get right. He has the occasional good
game but he's played well over 100 times now and just doesn't
replicate that with any kind of regularity.
Robshaw - usual tireless performance but he was the captain and
ultimately it felt like we were rudderless in that second half.
Add to that some of our most experienced signings look past it.
Goneva failing to make a basic inside pass which would probably
have lead to a try and instead they go up the other end and
score. Landajo and Botta have offered very little since joining
and no real threat from the bench.
In contrast Smith, Murley, Ibitoye did little wrong from what I
could see. Lawday strong again until injured. Kunatani was
       bright when he came on.
Feels like we could be in a relegation scrap unless there's a
big mental shift with some players.

Happy to see Ibitoye getting some much deserved praise, even in
a terrible defeat. Hopefully that will put the naysayers down.

Not having seen the game but being fairly drunk, the first
sentence for me sums it up. Obviously can't comment on the
       second sentence. :)

The big issue was up front and not winning the gain line. I
thought Lawday looked good, but have to disagree about Semi, I
think he adds some magic but also gets us in trouble with his
offloads. Think in 15’s he is a work in progress.
Lewies was very quiet this week as was EE. Symons worked hard
       but couldn’t make much headway.
Not sure why everyone is so critical of Santi and Martin. Joined
us late in preseason, have been very much bench players to Care
and Marler and not had huge game time. Can not expect unless
they play regularly, particularly at 9, to be top rate. In fact
not sure exactly what Santi has done wrong!

It seems to me that our current problems are two-fold. One, the
number of injuries, which means that currently half the team and
most of the bench is at best second or more often than not,
third or fourth choice players in their positions. We just won't
win much with that profile, especially when we combine that with
point two, the lack of power in our game. We are just too
lightweight and not big and powerful enough upfront, not beating
up the opposition (in fact, we're regularly getting beaten up).
That's significantly down to poor recruitment, especially in the
locks department. Compare and contrast with Sale. We just
haven't recruited/retained very well, including in the backs
(e.g. retaining Chisholm who is a poor third-choice; Goneva
who's a poor fourth choice; Ismaiel, who to me looks like a last
choice ...). A little bit is obviously about attitude,
inevitably, especially when heads go down towards the end as
they did last night, but I don't think it's actually the
coaching or the game plan that's the problem.
