       Plain Speaking From Rob Baxter

"There are supporters of rugby clubs who have watched coaches
getting sacked and players leave ... and part of that has been
Saracens cheating. You can't run away from it. Sometimes the
people who have pointed out that Saracens have cheated almost
get pointed out to be the bad guys"
There almost seems to be a disconnect between the rugby fan base
and many of the pundits who seem to want to forget the whole
       sordid business.
Did Wray venture down to Exeter yesterday does anybody know?

I don't think Wray is welcome at many away games from what has
       been said.

Is it my imagination or did we get a lot more
coverage/vilification in the press for bloodgate than Saracens
have got for 3 seasons of cheating?

We did and still do. They've managed the media far better. Got
lots of pundits onside from the start

Completely agree, 'experts' (sic) in the Rugby Paper and a
certain pundit on BT, most/all of who get free entry to games on
expenses and don't have to spend their hard-earned on watching
matches either on the TV or in person, are totally out of touch
with what a lot of the rugby community feel about Saracens***
initial misdemeanours and their lack of any real remorse, and
then what many feel is tantamount to them getting away with it.
If they want people to forget about this and to all go away then
they are in for a long wait.

That's a very good point. What's more ironic is that gained
absolutely nothing from what we did.

Sarries have loads of friends in the media, they've been given
really sympathetic coverage a lot of the time, and many of the
parasitic journalists stand to gain a lot from Saracens breaking
the game and making it like football where money rules.
       We don't really have many proper sports journalists in rugby;
most of them are glorified match reporters and very few of them
actually do their research. We can all read their output and
there's very few that you could comfortably say understand the
game better than the average fan, or in the case of ex-players,
very few that write anything insightful.
Football for all its sins actually does have some good
journalists operating. Cricket has a plethora of thoughtful
writers. Rugby? Our best bet is the tactics nerds who do their
in-depth articles on game plans and the like; we have very
little being written about the sport in a wider context that's
worth reading. The last time I read something like that about
rugby and was impressed was before the 2015 world cup, when Andy
Bull (I believe) did two great articles about English rugby and
       NZ rugby.

The general theme these idiots have is that Salarycens have done
so much for English rugby and have won many trophies in the last
five years. This without even the slightest inkling that this
might be because they have been cheating for the last five years
at least and been caught and convicted twice. They don’t see the
far reaching consequences for everyone else from supporters to
players and whole clubs. They seem to believe Nigel has just
made a tiny admin mistake completely by accident and it’s not
that bad. I would like to get some of them together with us
unhoodwinked for a Q and A session and see how they get on.
