4 International props who know each other very well and Tigers
got into Sinks head. Sorry but I actually enjoyed the match and
felt like a really old fashioned ding dong. Whatever Sinks plans
are he has to man up - they really did a deal on him - only
villain missing was James Haskell! I am sorry we lost but I also
don’t want to see Tigers go down. Just a shame about the rest of
the match.

Agreed. We looked quite lively in the loose, after the first
quarter. Two things puzzle me right now - why we are so slow to
start playing each game, and what on earth went wrong in the
scrum today. The yellow card really screwed us today.

Like a lot of Carly's decisions it was somewhat odd to say the
least. We were poor before that though. Tigers just seemed to
want it more 😥

The scrum was a disaster, not helped by Sinck, but Tigers are
good there and Carly reffed it poorly.
However, we should have scored more and let them in for soft
tries.
Even at the end, we managed to throw away 14 pints of lead, give
up a card, fluff up a likely scoring chance that would have
happened with more patience with the passing, holding on for a
penalty or going for a DG...
We really should, could and frankly needed to win that match.
That we didn't is deeply concerning, even if there were so
brighter spots

It appeared to me that in the scrum, Genge was continually
dropping his outside shoulder and not driving straight as is
required. This allowed him to bear down on his oppo, inevitably
causing the latter to give way. Since the ref was standing on
that side for nearly every scrum, I’m surprised he didn’t pick
this up; much as he didn’t pick the routine off-sides. Mind you,
we should have been a lot smarter and had a strategy to deal
with all this. 5 points definitely thrown away.

It did seem odd to me that the scrum continually collapsed even
though our front row and Robbo kept asking Carly about why we
were getting penalised. Even after Will came on the same thing
was happening. The only thing the same was Genge and I don’t see
why you would collapse your own attacking scrum, it doesn’t make
sense. Watching the replay may give the answer.

I’m no scrum expert, but last week Kay was talking about how
Genge took the scrum low, to a point where Williams wasn’t
comfortable, and when the scrums went down the penalty went
Genge’s way. I’m guessing Carly had the same interpretation
today. I find it almost impossible to tell who is taking it
down. Maybe Genge went so low we couldn’t cope. Maybe he pulled
it down.

Just watched a couple of replays of scrums with Sinck and
Collier and it looks to me like Genge hinges as it leaves our
guys flat on the grass fully stretched out. That and the bit
where Goneva isn’t in touch but the Lino thinks his hand is in
touch even though it’s a white one. He wasn’t happy with that
one.

A good fun game and a good occasion.
Result-wise, deeply frustrating! We were looking for the bonus
point win and third place. We ended up with 2 points and 8th
place. Next week is away to Sale, a horrible team to try to to
get something against.
As for today, there were so many errors and slips and and
drops. It was hard work. Then it clicked and we looked
excellent. We were making good ground with every play, we were
zipping the ball quickly and getting the points we deserved. At
27-13 we HAVE to be strong enough to put any opposition to bed.
We have to learn to be smart enough to do that.
As most have mentioned, the scrum was shocking today. It is an
area of quality and strength usually , and I thought it could be
the area that won us the game. The complete opposite, in fact!
It was a shame that we didn't win it in those dying minutes when
we were a man down. The spirit was great. Shame it didn't
happen.
Interestingly, we have now played 15 games this season: won 7,
lost 7 drawn 1. We need a new year surge to be considered a
viable top 4 option. We also need Mr Miyagi to work some magic
in the treatment room!

I had a fantastic seat for the game but I was miles away from
the scrums but I bet any money that Sincks had his feet too far
back and was falling on his fat gut against Genge. The scrum was
shocking, and to conspire to miss out on the win was hugely
disappointing. What a load of utter cack.
