Injury Dispensation Funds

Obviously things aren't going exactly to plan at the moment, but
what I am struggling with is our seeming reluctance to do
anything about getting replacements in for Brown and Baldwin.
Both were going to be quality stalwarts in the 1XV (along with
the likes of Robshaw, Dombrandt and Smithy) and be part of the
base on which our league challenge would be founded. Looks like
both are out for the season and we're doing nothing about it.
Both positions are critical. We simply can't go through the
season with Chisholm first choice and 'someone else' when he's
rested. It's a similar situation at hooker, although Elia has
stepped up.
There's allowances for us to do something, so why not? And I get
it may not be quite as simple as that, but I get the feeling
we're not even trying.

We have no idea what Billy M is doing regarding injury cover for
Brownie & Baldwin. However, I doubt he's simply not looking. The
issue is who is available at the moment. If we're trying to get
"like for like" cover, the pool will be rather small to begin
with. Add in that most NH players will be an integral part of
their own clubs efforts already, and SH players will be starting
their pre-season soon so the DoRs will be reluctant to lose
someone from their squad at this stage of their preparations for
the start of Super Rugby.

Did say in TRP that club is actively looking for replacements,
but aside from that not sure how we would know what they are
doing
Would make sense for maybe instead of news feature how will use
boxing as an inspiration to fight back, that maybe a “We are
currently looking for injury cover in these areas”
Maybe it’s not media friendly enough

In fairness, why should the club tell us if they are looking for
cover?. It would not change anything. Maybe they do not want it
widely known.

And you still have to cover the cost of Brownie and Baldwin and
their replacements, even if you have dispensation under the
salary cap. The club owner may not be too enthused that on top
of everything else he now has to fund two extra salaries.

Surely there must be some [insert large edible thing of
choice]-eating hooker from Georgia that we could persuade to
replace Baldwin with?

Crumpton due back early January I believe. Not sure on Buchanan.
Both of those are out of contract this season and I’m hoping we
hurry & sign one of them at least considering Baldwin hasn’t
lived up to expectations and the hooker market isn’t great right
now.
I would 100% choose Crumpton. I’ve said it since day 1 he would
be in my starting 15

When fit, Crumpton is one of my first names on the team sheet.
It seems we did try to sign Matavesi before he went to Saints,
so we must be looking
