FREEMAN TO CAPTAIN HARLEQUINS FOR OPENING SHIELD FIXTURE AGAINST
EXETER BRAVES
Monday, 25th November 2019 @ 13:50
HARLEQUINS HAS ANNOUNCED THE SIDE THAT WILL FACE EXETER BRAVES
AT SANDY PARK IN THE OPENING MATCH OF THE PREMIERSHIP RUGBY
SHIELD CAMPAIGN.
Toby Freeman, who signed from Cornish Pirates in the summer,
will lead a side full of both experience and young potential.
Also in the side is prolific Fijian winger Vereniki Goneva who
starts at 11 and at 14 is South African Travis Ismaiel. Mark
Lambert adds significant experience in the front three and Dino
Lamb makes a rare start at number eight.
3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment solider and Scrum half Lloyd
Wheeldon will make his first start for the Club, in a side that
includes a host of fellow members of the Armed Forces named as
Game Changers.
Harlequins’ Scrum Coach Adam Jones said: “The Shield is a great
opportunity to develop players at all stages in their career. We
have picked a squad that will help some of our senior squad get
some valuable game time, as well as for some of our Academy
players who have worked hard and earned their opportunity to run
out tonight against Exeter.
“We are fortunate to have some international experience in the
squad, with the likes of Goneva and Ismaiel, who will be great
influence and support to the younger lads running out tonight
against what will no doubt be a tough Exeter Braves side.”

That is interesting - both Goneva and Ismaiel are fit.
Methinks that one of these two may start against Glaws on
Sunday.

That would be good if it happened. At least our game is on
Sunday, meaning they have an extra day recovery compared to the
usual A-league to Prem game gap.
