aren't them rules that said the marquee player couldn't be
someone who played for a different prem club the previous season
or something similar?

I am pretty sure you cannot move from one prem cub to another
and become a marquee player (straight away). I think once two
years has passed, then you can become a marquee player for the
team you have moved to.

From the Premiership website-albeit referring to the 2017-2018
season
Excluded Players
1. A Club may nominate to the Salary Cap Manager up to two
Players to be excluded from their Salary Cap calculations. A
Club shall be entitled to nominate a Player as an Excluded
Player who:
(i) has been a Player of the Club for at least two full Salary
Cap Years prior to the Salary Cap Year in which he is nominated
as the Excluded Player; or
(ii) has not been a Player of any Aviva Premiership Club during
the previous Salary Cap; or
(iii) has been a Player (but not an Excluded Player) for the
Club in the previous Salary Cap Year and was not a Player for
any other Club for at least one Salary Cap Year immediately
prior to joining the Club.
2. A Club shall only be entitled to nominate a Player as a
second Excluded Player who:
(i) has not been a Player of any Club during the previous Salary
Cap Year; or
(ii) was that Club's second Excluded Player in the previous
Salary Cap Year.
*Home Grown Player Credits: A Club shall be entitled to up to
£400,000 worth of credits for players (£50,000 per Home Grown
Player) who have graduated from the Club's Academy. A qualifying
player:
must have joined the Club before his 18th birthday; and
earns more than £30,000.
These credits only apply to the Senior Ceiling. For example, if
a qualifying player earns £55,000, only £5,000 would be counted
in the Club's Salary Cap calculations.

So if we can afford to see could pay him £50k more than any
other premiership club. I can't think who our other it if call
players would be? I'm guessing one or Marler, Robshaw, Brown or
Care? I would have imagined that Kev was but he's gone.....

Obvious options are Marler, Care, Brown or Robshaw.
Could be that Dombrandt is now one with his new deal
Could be Marchant is one with his new deal
Could be that Sink is currently one but PG has his eyes on
another player next season that will take that spot and we cant
fit Sinck in under the normal cap.

Dombrandt had better not be marquee. Can a player be swapped to
marquee part way through contract? Presumably horwill was and
since he's retired I can't imagine anyone who's joined us
marquee so guess an existing player has moved into it

It would be illogical not to have the 2 marquee outside the cap.
Agree, Kev was one but who was the other, post Nev?
It doesn’t matter much but it will be one of our seniors and
they’ll be being payed about the same as the others. Sincks has
joined that group, probs more now given the value of a top tight
head on the Euro market. My suspicion is that there’s plenty of
money to spend on a marquee player and it’s very likely we can
offer well above the current senior group.
I have every confidence Karl will be with us for some time yet.
As a bit of rugby business you’d have to be nuts to let him go.
He’s total box office.
In passing, with all due respect, Dommers and Earle are nowhere
near this level. Earle was underpaid at Sarries (believe it or
not) and came to Qs for a decent rise but still a modest Prem
salary (reliable source). Dommers has only just begun.
