Latest Medical Update

TREATMENT TABLE – 21 NOVEMBER 2019
Thursday, 21st November 2019 @ 11:37
IT’S A BUSY TIME IN THE MEDICAL ROOM AT PRESENT, AFTER PICKING
UP A FEW MID TO LONG-TERM INJURIES SINCE THE LAST UPDATE.
Aaron Morris sustained an ankle ligament injury against
Northampton. Fortunately, this didn’t require any surgical
intervention. He is already making good progress but is likely
to remain out of action for another few weeks.
Unfortunately, Ben Tapuai picked up a foot injury and is
expected to require four months of rehabilitation following
successful surgery. Ben has shown great mental resilience and is
already committing fully to expediting his return to play.
Nathan Earle continues to make great progress following an
extensive knee reconstruction.
Archie White (hamstring) and Luke James (foot) are both doing
really well and it was pleasing to see them both back running
last week.
Jack Clifford (shoulder) and Max Crumpton (knee) are both making
good progress following their respective surgeries and we hope
to see them training with the squad in the New Year.
Rob Buchanan (calf) had a slight set back since the previous
update after an issue with the other calf. He’s made good
progress since and will look to re-integrate back into training
next week.
Unfortunately Scot Baldwin is also set for a spell on the
sidelines after picking up a neck injury against Clermont. We
are yet to know the full extent of the injury but will have more
information once he has seen the specialist in the coming days.
To finish on a positive, it was great to see Danny Care back in
action at the weekend following his ankle surgery. Credit goes
to DC and Elliott who both worked extremely hard throughout the
rehab process.
Injury list:
Nathan Earle
Rob Buchanan
Jack Clifford
Max Crumpton
Archie White
Luke James
Joe Marchant
Ben Tapuai
Aaron Morris
Scott Baldwin
A word from Gussy
“We have unfortunately had a few mid to long term injuries at
the start of the season which is frustrating for the team and
disappointing for the players. Injuries are always a possible
outcome in a contact sport and the game against Northampton, for
example, was quite freaky with three of our outside backs all
sustaining long term injuries. Added to the list above we have
had many short-term like Dommers, Stephan, Coll and baby Chis
which has really tested the depth of the squad.
“Our medical team continue to treat the symptoms and in
conjunction with the players desire we keep seeing players
return to the field earlier than anticipated. Sometimes you go
through spells where injuries seem to come all at once and it’s
a great opportunity for us as coaches, as support staff and as
an entire squad to show our resilience and togetherness.
Adversity tests our character and it’s a challenge we face
together with confidence in the squad we have.”

Good to see that Brown isn't on the list - he didn't look too
clever after taking a knock at Clermont.
Marchant and Tapuai both being out is a big concern. That leaves
Campagnaro, Saili, Northmore and Lang at centres - who am I
missing? I think Goneva can play there, and Gabs is also listed
as centre/wing.

Lasike. Plus Herron and Murley have played there. Guessing we
will see Musk on the bench for the next few games.

Quins instageam feed showed him back training. Not clear whether
he's up for selection yet, but I would guess he's eager to get
back on the pitch.

Wouldn't have minded an update on why March is on that list too
- would be nice to know if we'll be seeing him in a Quins shirt
again this season before he heads to NZ...

He's been in a boot the last week or two. Not clear how bad it
is, but my gut feel is he'd play a supporting role at best
before his sabbatical.

Yes, I'm sure that I read somewhere that he has had an op, so
not sure we'll see him again this season.

I thought Musk looked pretty useful in the A league (I mean he
could throw and hit his jumpers). I do remember him missing one
in the prem cup earlier in the season though. Hooker is a
position now with no clear number 1 (I think Crumpton is the
man, but I am not sure PG feels the same). Chance is there for
someone to put their hand up and stake a claim.
