Relegation Candidate?

After losing to Worcester and scraping one win out of four, are
we at risk of relegation? There do not seem to be any weak teams
this year and we seem to have some issues,
- light weight second row (though the Fijian looked ok)
- lack of centres and only to get worse
- lacking in the back row with only Dombrandt and Robshaw
nailed on starters
- only Danny as a decent 9
I am a little worried.

Weve got plenty of options at centre imho, Also back row. 9,
Landajo needs to step up, but Im hoping this is just a settling
in period. Lock, I think we have 3 good options, then a couple
of projects.
Should we be worried, looking at the league I think everyone
should but, I think we will be fine. I still think Irish or
Worcs. Tigers need to buck there ideas up though also.

The league is strong and a poor start isn’t good:
However to answer the individual points
Symons & Lewies aren’t lightweight and Big Tex, Young (plus
Freeman & Lamb) offer options. Bigger concern is lineout.
Centres are well stocked (even with weird Marchant loan). Lang,
Saili’i, Taps, Campagnaro are very competent and all have
international caps.
Back row has tons of options!
Landajo has 100+ Argentina caps at 9
More of an issue (in my opinion) is inconsistent team selection
so combinations aren’t being formed

Surprised no one rates Will Evans. I thought he had a blinder
against Worcester and was unlucky with a couple of decisions.
Our rucking was poor but he is invariably there very quickly at
the breakdown. I think our back row is very strong.
It’s our midfield I worry about.

I rate Evans, very much. I have a feeling PG does too

For what it’s worth until it’s mathematically impossible I’d be
‘concerned’ about the possibility of relegation as the league is
extremely competitive, amongst the sides that have regard for
the agreed constraints, although I’d like to think that the
squad is good enough not to be, but didn’t we all think that in
2005?

We’re definitely in the mix. Our win/loss ratio in the league in
2019 is awful.

We are a bang average team that’s been in decline in some way
since our giddy heights of 2012. We’ve always gone for the bulk
squad player who “might do a job occasionally” but the average
standard of the squad is some way below most of the division.
We’ve got some world class players, but the gulf between them
and their replacements is abysmal to the point rarely are they
going to have their places threatened if fit, which can create
complacency in itself.
Teams around us have improved very well, we’ve stood still IMO.
We have our little spurts, but we aren’t really a side many
would be scared to play.
Relegation? Maybe a tad early to say, but bottom 3 is a distinct
possibility having seen our squad

Evans has been good in every game, and yes he was definitely
unlucky with what appeared to be a couple of textbook jackals
last week. He needs to be in a balanced backrow though, and as
much as Lawday is a good grafter I'm not sure the two of them in
the same back row will make much of a dent at the top level of
club rugby. That remains to be seen though.

I’ve been impressed by Evans too.
