Do we think the players are playing for Gussy or are they on
another downing tools assignment as what happened in the end of
JK’s time? Are the old guards contracts up this summer? Might
explain some of it if they have been told they are not being
renewed & to start look for new clubs?

Makes little sense. If you want a new contract, at Quins or
elsewhere, you're likely to play at your best level. Playing
poorly won't get any interest in a player.

Any player who doesn't give 100% all week should be let go.

Eh, players are human and will have their ups and downs. It's up
to management to get the most out of them.
However I can't imagine any players downing tools this early
into a season so heavily disrupted by the world cup and
injuries. We just look like a team who can't find any
consistency.
Some of our worst players last night are people I'm sure are
trying very hard.

Someone on Twitter (I know not exactly reliable) was suggesting
Codling had been pushed out by Gustard. Does anyone know if
there’s any truth to that? Would explain the sudden and brief
announcement. And suggest there are big issues behind the scenes

There was a rumour that Codling left or tried to leave in Feb,
but was convinced to stay till the end of the season

Codling has never stayed anywhere long as a coach so I don't
find it at all surprising he left.
My main concern with Gustard was the alleged quote he was
reported to have made along the lines that he was in charge of
recruitment at Saracens as he is at Quins and it is far more
difficult here because at Saracens he didn't have any budget
restrictions. If that is true it seems he was complicit in their
cheating and that reflects very badly on his integrity.
