Ugo saying he was brilliant for us but few opportunities as
behind NEV is that how others remember him? I thought he was
injured a lot and not a huge success when he did play?

I really valued him at Harlequins. He played well with the
chances he got and I watched a few A League games where he
played both 10 & 12 where he was the best man on the pitch on
multiple A Leage games.
Yes there was the lack of opportunities behind Nev, however
myself and my grandad and friends who support Quins at the time
could not get over that he was third choice behind Rory Clegg.
He couldn’t hit a high five let alone a spot kick, lost multiple
games for us based on some of his decisions and yet he would be
picked as the 2nd choice each and every time. No disrespect to
Clegg but Urdapilleta was at that time a much solid performer
let alone how he has grown now. Just a shame we couldn’t keep
him but he had to move on, you could see the dust brushing off
his shoulders when he stepped on the pitch he was that
underused.
One of his strong points back when he played for us was his
kicking game from the tee and also quick hands. If you own the
Harlequins 2012 season highlights DVD, there are a couple of LV
Cup games he played where highlights show he had much to offer.
Pleased with how far he’s come and also to get back into that
Los Pumas squad has done wonders for his confidence which is the
main thing I think he lacked.
I remember during the RWC2011 Harlequins put on the Argentina vs
England pool game on the big screen and Urdapilleta was present
giving halftime analysis and his thoughts etc. He couldn’t speak
great English but he was a sound bloke, very friendly and had a
lot of time for Harlequins supporters. Joined in with a couple
of young Quins supporters throwing a ball about in the back of
the room too. Really great guy.
Even to this day I cannot see why we played Rory Clegg in front
of him. Bonkers
