       No talking please

According to Mick Cleary in D.tel this s morning the announcer
on the Sapporo/airport link kept demanding ‘No talking’ on the
train to the rugby match at the weekend. Would cut out the buzz
of going to any match. He clearly was not at Brighton station
when the SA supporters clapped the Japanese supporters on to the
train! He says he has not ‘dared’ to get a train to Twickenham
or Cardiff for 20 years which is a bit pathetic obviously not a
       forward!

I think I'm right in saying that on Japanese trains they take
the "Quiet Carriage" seriously. The ordinary person in the
carriage will also remonstrate against people talking/on the
phone/using headphones etc in a Quiet Carriage.

They do like the carriage to be very quiet. It's just how they
do things. Lots of respect for others. It's a part of what makes
       it an amazing country.

Do they still have the special trains they used to feature on
       euro trash on tour?

So it's just like getting the tube to work - I think no
talking/noise on public transport is wonderful idea.

I can understand the request. Public transport there is, whilst
fantastically good, pricey...I guess they are trying to ensure
everyone is enjoying the experience considering how much they
pay for it. The request fits in with the culture - so quietly
       and calmly respectful.
It’s a brilliant place and the 2 weeks we had on holiday there
in 2013 were 2 of the best. Culturally, historically,
hospitality wise - it really is something else. Envious of
anyone who is there for the World Cup. A couple of guys at work
have just gone over for it - single and with no commitments.
Will be the trip of a lifetime!
