It's a statement of the obvious.
In any industry, if you own an asset, why would you rent someone
else's asset while your own sits idle and unused?
Man owns a wedding car business, when his daughter gets married,
does he rent a wedding car from the competition, or does he use
one of his own cars?

That’s a real shame, it’d be great if England could regularly
take games across the country like the Cricket Team do however
that’s easy to say when I don’t run the accounts!
When I went to the England Wales World Cup warm up game recently
I was able to take eight friends along with me and, although the
fixture itself was enticing, for my friends who’d never watched
a game of Rugby before, the allure of Twickenham itself was the
deciding draw and I can definitely see why the RFU don’t want to
gamble on giving that up for any fixture!

To be fair, the majority of the other NH national teams are the
same, even when they *don't* directly own the stadium. France
are the only one who have played at more than one stadium on a
regular basis in the last 20 years. Yes, Wales played at
Wembley, but that was only because the Millennium Stadium was
being built. Ireland went to Croke Park, but again, only while
Lansdowne Road was being converted to the Aviva. England played
in Manchester against Argentina, but that was actually an
Argentina home game (as mentioned in the original article). As
Domestos says, it's basic economics...

Man owns a wedding car business in London, daughter getting
married in Newcastle, does he rent a wedding car from a
Newcastle firm or does he insist the wedding is moved to London
so he can use his own car?

Daughter gets married in Newcastle so that she doesn't feel
obliged to use one of Dad's cars based in London?
Not really a valid analogy, is it - with respect, of course.

Plus the ECB don't own a stadium in the same way that the RFU
do.
It just doesn't make sense to move the games to another stadium
when they're virtually always selling out the one they own and
keeping the revenue from it. I'd love more of a roadshow but
accept that it's unlikely to happen. Plus short of Old Trafford
barely any other stadium outside London comes close to
Twickenham's capacity.

(Interesting aside: as far as I can tell, London has the largest
aggregate stadium capacity of any city in the world. There are
cities with larger individual stadia - but nowhere with so many
50,000+ seater stadia or quite such a long tail of 10,000+
seater grounds).
Anyway, the basic point is valid. Twickenham is a valuable asset
to the RFU (thanks, Billy Williams) and it's much easier for
them to make money filling it up than spend money going
somewhere else. Given the state of their finances at the moment
- and the choke it is putting on community rugby, I'd rather
they got themselves into a better state financially before
worrying about playing games elsewhere.
That said - England Women do travel the country, because even
the 2013 WRWC Final was small enough to be held at the Stoop.
That's one way to see high quality international rugby (and
between better-matched teams than England and Italy) outside of
London.

So the point about capacity is correct. Also with the large
80+thousand stadium sitting there empty it doesn't make
financial sense to hire at vast expense another smaller stadium.
