Not surprising when you consider the sporting prowess of BAME
sportsmen in all sports, except swimming and cycing to date. It
is a sign that the field is leaving and that athletic
performance allied with the right mentality are being rewarded.
You see the trend into the countries, such as France who are no
producing outstanding athletes from there BAME community. Bamba
and Joseph are two to watch out for.
Class is still an issue in this con try but at least private
schools are picking up youngsters from state schools. They have
all the pathways sorted so makes sense.

I could not care less what colour any players is in any team I
follow. If the best available are all white green orange or
black pick them - do not pick them on colour.

Facepalm. Guessing you didn't read what Ugo wrote then - I'll
       quote him for you:

Fair enough, but like Marlowish I don't see why it's something
that needs to be mentioned, unless Ugo's trying to appease the
minority who are seemingly obsessed with diversity of skin
colour/ethnicity. Of course, if it was a truly diverse team then
we'd need to know the sexuality of each player and hope that
       they weren't all heterosexual.

You’re aware Ugo is black presumably.
You’re aware also that rugby is played predominately by rich
       white people.
He’s making the point that as a black person he’s pleased that
black people are now more frequently seen in the England team.
Here’s the reason - if you’re black you’re a lot less likely to
       be rich and posh.
And so - given that we want the best rugby team - it would be
great if it appealed to more than the very small pool of the 7%
of kids who go to private school.
I’m assuming you don’t care because you’re white and middle
class and therefore you’ve never had a barrier to doing
anything. (For the sake of transparency, I'm 50, white and went
to public school - I'm just bored of the backward attitudes of
       the dull terrified middle classes)
You’re right though - it is a mintory who are “obsessed” by
diversity - it’s all the people who aren’t white - who are,
       let’s call it “a minority.”
What I find amazing is your absolute conviction that women,
gays, blacks, whoever are just whining and self-obsessed in
their apparently irritating attempts for equality of
       opportunity.
Honestly to Christ, ease off the sub Clarkson bullshit.

How many non-whites in the squad come from financially
       disadvantaged backgrounds in reality?

Genge and Sinckler for a start...

Given that promising youth players tend to get scholarships to
private schools, it's pretty hard to tell without doing a lot of
       digging.
But definitely Genge and Sinckler, and possibly also Lawes. And
the Vunipolas, Tuilagi and Cokanasiga came from relatively
impoverished Pacific Island backgrounds and ended up in the UK
because of parents and brothers playing professional sport or
       joining the British Army.
