As though £30+ is acceptable for a pair..! ‘Let’s move the club
to Coventry and charge a bullseye for shorts!’
I wonder what Lord Sugar makes of that business model?

The problem is that enough people pay the asking price to make
it worth while charging it in the first place. Some of my
friends will pay a price whether they think it’s too much or
not. They just say “well that’s the price isn’t it”. My attitude
is that it’s not a case of affordability for me, it’s if I think
it’s worth it or not. I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price
for any Quins merch.
Reading the article,it sounds like it’s £50 for match
shorts which are not the same as the replica kit shorts. I
remember trying to explain (without success) to a chap in the
club shop a few years ago that the player issue shirt that was
half price, wasn’t the same as a replica shirt. The player shirt
was half price at £50 and the replica shirt was £45 and he
didn’t understand the difference. I tried to explain that if you
played in the replica one it would be in a sorry state at the
end of the game and showed him the difference in material but he
didn’t get it. Sometimes it isn’t made clear exactly what you
are being asked to pay for.

As a nipper my favoured sport was football, where having the
newest kit was essential. But what I love about rugby is that
the jerseys worn by fans are regardless of their age.
I enjoy seeing the Cotton Traders shirts and NEC branding etc.
It sets us apart from footie thuggery. I have a few Quins
jerseys but my fav is 15 years old. The 2004 Kooga with Nick
Duncan 9 on the arm. I’ve worn it 100s of times and it still
looks brand new.
Me personally, I can’t get on with the new body hugging designs.
I look like roadkill in them. Just don’t have the physique so
certainly wouldn’t pay £65-100 for one. With one exception, I
never did pick up the Quins 1866-2016 jersey and am gutted..

I won't pay a lot of money for a shirt I don't particularly
like, but who - seriously - pays that sort of money for
shorts!!

To be fair the replica ones stand up to playing pretty well. I’d
guess by the end of the season we generally have 2-3 that have
small rips but that would be after 20+ games and I’d expect the
player shirts to have similar damage.

I was under the impression that the adult Ams had the old player
shirts Yareet. If not then the replica shirts are stronger than
I thought which is impressive. I know the juniors are replica
shirts and my daughters ones stood up alright but they are much
smaller and lighter than the adults (no offence).

Looks like £50 is the authentic (player) shorts, standard
replica is £30 (still too much though!)

Nope - we had the last lot of O'Neills shorts when the pros
switched to Adidas but since the 150th season we've just been in
replicas of whatever the pros are wearing that season. All of
it's held up well except weirdly for the 150th white socks.

Where my daughter plays now they get a training shirt as part of
a pack which includes a polo shirt , a Zip up hoodie and some
shorts. All for £85. The training shirt is very heavily stitched
and feels very robust like a proper playing shirt should. The
club hopefully make a profit on this pack and you get all the
above items. How many of you would buy a kit bundle like that
for something like that price? I certainly would.
