misunderstanding of my point? I perfectly well understand the
Law and the physics involved (and I thought it a little rude of
you to infer otherwise tbh) but I think the Law should be
amended to take into account the whole momentum thing
specifically. As it stands there is far too much of a grey area
and room for refereeing error in adjudicating on Forward passes.

Because the law is already taking into account momentum. You
       just don't like it.
The fact that you keep saying things like "if the ball reaches
the recipient ahead of where it was passed from then that is a
forward pass" is why I keep saying you don't understand this
stuff. The physics involved would mean your version of the law
turning the sport into an absolute farce - and a billion times
       harder to referee correctly.

So change the Law then. Rinse, and repeat.

Ha ha thats brilliant. I did not know Subbuteo Rugby even
existed! Bet there's no problem over momentum in that game!

Change the law to what? The only suggestion you've made is a
ludicrous one that'll be impossible to referee. The current law
       seems fine.

To make it official that when passing at pace there is a 5 metre
grace. Maybe that won't apply to pop passes etc to befair.

Momentum depends on speed going forward, doesn't it? If a player
is running at 38 degrees to the touchline (where zero being
straight at it), how is the ref supposed to calculate the
momentum to allow? He doesn't even know the speed the player is
       running at to begin with.
So we get this situation where unless it's a howler of a forward
pass or momentum is not involved, the pass is just waved on.
However, what else can they do? Every ref will surely come up
with a different opinion if they actually applied the momentum
       rule/law/whatever.

       5 metre grace for what?
