Yep, I would say that Sarries are quite low down in the list of
clubs that make star signings these days.

Not sure many teams take on a glut of high profile players any
more. I’m defining that as regular tier 1 internationals.
Irish and Sale aside, most seem to have 1 at most.

No a season ticket holder of 20 years+
The signings clearly improve our squad players
,
Mmm Horwill & Visser retired and the remaining Ins & outs
balance each other out.

We don’t have an issue with England call ups
anymore
- because our former England stars aren't
considered good enough to make the squad = deterioration not
strengthening.
Our existing squad blew a guaranteed 3rd place
- 3rd place was never 'guaranteed' or even likely with about 4
games to go
One year of recruitment isn’t going to get us anywhere
near Sarries or Chiefs given our appalling failures in
recruitment since 2011.
Agreed - and the current crop does little to reverse
this trend

But we are sticking to the Salary Cap and not developing
developing businesses with the players.

I made the “other club” jibe because I wasn’t entirely sure why
you needed to be snide about the original post just because they
were positive. They well may also have been a fan for a long
time.
Think we won’t agree, since I also think the signings were what
we needed and are better than the outgoing out of date squad
players they replace. Also if we hadn’t lost the Saints game
we’d have been fine. My point being we have a competitive side.
One thing I can’t let go is the idea that Visser leaving is an
issue. He was persona non grata and played one game for us.
Makes no difference at all. We have far better wings now
(although currently we have an injury issue that presumably will
result in injury cover).

I do not work for the club but am open to offers!!!
Quite simply, I believe in Gussy and think that he will have
worked hard to get in the right kind of people. Therefore, the
names represent a chance to enhance the strength of the squad as
the new (and current) players grow and develop in line with
Gussy's vision.
While it is unquestionable that a big name can come in and lift
a whole club (e.g. Cipriani at Gloucester), players like that
are pretty rare. I also think we possess a few blockbuster
players already. Smith, in particular, can be anything he wants
to be in the game!
Anyway, I hope they are enjoying a break and then it will be
back to shaping the squad and the team for the forthcoming
season.

I agree Visser on current form is no loss to us - the point I
was making was that both he and Horwill were high profile
established internationals when we signed them and with their
retirements, I was hoping for something similar and I don't
think the 2 Argentine players and Campagnaro fit the bill.
Comet - apologies if my 'snide' opening statement caused
offence. I applaud your seemingly limitless positive outlook,
which after 20+ years I struggle to share !
At least Blucher's got your back ;)

No problem!
I suppose my main source of optimism is seeing the club (meaning
coaches and team) trying to develop and grow. Trying to move
away from the stagnation (and cosiness?) of the previous few
years. While there were more defeats than victories last season,
most were very close. With the work on the physical side and,
most importantly, the mental side I think we can really fly.
Sometimes you look at the signings made by other teams with envy
or fear. But then you look at our players and think 'they are
really good, they can be brilliant!'
Anyway, it is going to be a long summer without rugby before the
glut in the autumn! Let's see how the squad develops in that
time!
