HARLEQUINS ANNOUNCE SQUAD TO PLAY EXETER CHIEFS (A)
Friday, 26th April 2019 @ 12:00
FRANCIS SAILI RETURNS TO THE STARTING LINE-UP FOR THE TRIP TO
SANDY PARK ON SATURDAY TO PLAY EXETER CHIEFS IN ROUND 20 OF THE
GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP (KICK-OFF: 14:00).
Saili starts at Inside Centre following his impactful
performance as a Game Changer in the European Challenge Cup
Semi-Final match at Clermont Auvergne last weekend in place of
one of the season's most consistent performers, Ben Tapuai.
In the pack, Stan South starts, partnering the ever impressive
Matt Symons in the Second Row.
Among the Game Changers, the electric Gabriel Ibitoye and George
Merrick make their returns from injury in the 19 and 23 shirts
respectively while Phil Swainston also takes his place in the
matchday squad in place of Josh Ibuanokpe.
Harlequins Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said: “As a coaching
group, we were happy with many aspects of our performance last
week allied to our resilience and resolve that the boys showed
in a terrific atmosphere in Clermont, but ultimately we went
there to win and we didn’t quite get the result we craved. We
can, as a club, be proud of our team, but we can never be
satisfied with not winning, and that for me was the most
pleasing aspect in the aftermath of that game. The boys want
more from themselves and from each other as we continue to raise
our internal bar of performance and expectation.
“This weekend’s match is not only a great opportunity to build
on last week's energy and effort but also for us to keep our
challenge for the title. We had a strong game against the Chiefs
at The Stoop earlier in the season and we must again be at our
best if we are to defeat them. They are a formidable team with
plenty of attacking threat and endeavour, combined with a strong
set-piece which, allied to their passionate support, means they
are a dangerous opponent.
"They are well coached under the stewardship of Rob and Ali and
I know they will be smarting from their defeat last time out
against Wasps and will have maximised their two weeks to prepare
for us. We are well aware of the challenge and also opportunity
that awaits us at Sandy Park. We go there respectful of the best
team in the league to date and equally confident of our own
ability to compete and win against anybody.
"This group has come a long way since June 2018 and this
Saturday presents us with another opportunity to move forward
and be the team we aspire to be."

Strong team. Shame still no Care or Marchant. Does anyone know
what's wrong with them and how long they're out for? Same with
Collier and Crumpton
Can't see us getting much out of this, but a bonus could be
enough to hang on to 4th

Considering the length of that injury list not a bad team at

Some key injuries at just the wrong end of the season. BUT,
Exeter are suffering too. They're there for the taking. If we're
up for it, I reckon we can pull a minor miracle out of the
bag...

Looks like Exeter have quite a few back row injuries - can add
Sam Simmonds and Ian Whitten to your list TBQ.
I wasn't at all confident but now I've seen the teams I think we
have an outside chance.

True, although Simmonds has been out for a while I think and
Devoto/Slade seems to be Exeter's first choice centre pairing
nowadays. But yeah, that back row and back three is where they'd
ideally like to be stronger I'm sure. Still a very good side
though and we'll have to be seriously pumped and switched on for
the full 80 to snatch it.

Looks like it will be wet, hoping the storm has passed
Sort out the discipline and play for the full 80 we could get a

I thought Marchant was out for the season? But was hoping Danny
would be back.

Don't remember seeing an announcement on Marchant - whereas
there have been announcements on Earle and Murley. Which would
suggest he's due back before the end of the season... Unless I
missed the announcement.
