They have gone with a Bloodgate thread on their own board
instead.

Quite rightly the Daily Mail journalists behind the story are on
Twitter just wondering why PRL decided to release the statement
at 830pm on a Weds during the Man U v Barcelona Champions League
match.
I'm sure it's just when they found out about it.

Why am I not surprised. *fingers in ears* Lalalalala Nigel is
wonderful.
Player welfare and post playing careers are critical and it's
good that clubs are starting to take this much more seriously. I
know Sarries have been at the forefront of this and fair play to
them. However, this is clearly very much against the spirit of
the cap and is clearly an example of trying to get around the
cap using Nigel's deep pockets.

good they are investigating, although I fear it may end up with
the "they found a loophole and used it, loophole will be closed"
outcome. the problem is, if they are found to have done
something wrong, I don't have confidence in PRL to actually be
transparent or punish them.

why are Sarries at the forefront of this several clubs do a lot
to help their players transition. Sarries SAYing they are at the
forefront is totally different

Comments from players and those involved in the game both who
have played for them and those that have not.

Wonder if Flatman, greenwood and the other pundits who fawned
over Wray's grandiose rubbish will have anything to say

What can the authorities do in reality?
The last time Sarries threatened legal action if any sanctions
were imposed and PRL cowered at that threat. This allowed
Sarries to continue with no regard for PRL. Nothing has changed
I guess.
Another problem is that the sport is trying to grow. Sarries
have their own ground, albeit a soulless establishment and they
get bigger crowds than most clubs. What they are doing I think
is as much cheating as Glasgow Rangers albeit a different way of
cheating in how they pay players and I assume no tax avoidance
issues.
Rangers were demoted 2 divisions. If this was football it would
be easy to drop them a division or 2 as there would be plenty of
takers for their place in the league. The reality is there are
no other clubs who are genuine Premiership quality to take
Sarries place.
This will never change as long as the ownership of Sarries stays
in situ. No reason for it to do so. The other possible outcome
is that other clubs will see Sarries get away with another
flagrant but of cheating and think the only way to compete is to
do the same or similar.

re the bolded point, I'd say that they're middling at best for
attendances. I haven't run the figures for a couple of years,
but apart from their one game against us, their average at
standard games is less than 10k by default (it has to be as
that's their capacity) and they don't get sell outs every week.
Exeter, Tigers, Saints, Bath, Gloucester, Us all get larger
crowds at our standard home games, while Wasps and Bristol I
would have to dig into but I believe they are likely to have
larger crowds too.
