In this interesting round up of where clubs stand after the CVC
money has landed, it says we are going for a 25,000 seat stadium
with an artificial pitch.

Well this would be a total turn round from what we have always
been promised IF it is true. At every meeting we have been told
that we were having a pitch like that at Big Stoop.
We still have no explanation as to why all our truly independent
Directors resigned last Oct maybe his is it?

I thought the feedback from Ellis at a recent fans forum was
that we'd still be on a hybrid grass pitch like the Big Stoop.
I'd tend to take the Express report about an artificial pitch
with a pinch of salt...

Not sure I really trust that article. Seems to be quite a
light-hearted whip through and I very much doubt fact-checking
was a major part of the write-up. Wasn't it confirmed by the
club that it would be a hybrid? Which is what we have currently
I think...

At least being the Express, we'll soon hear what Diana would've
thought about it all...

It could be the council swapping building permission for things
like schools access to the pitch during the week. That's why
Sarries have a plastic pitch.
Maybe it's the idea of playing the men's and ladies teams week
on week off.
Maybe the express is just confused.

I would not be surprised if we did. If we want to maximise
revenue from "New" Stoop, we need it to be used as much as
possible. Artifical pitch would help with that.
As a side note. Ive heard we tried to tempt Barrett for next
season. If that is true, where did that money (or cap space
go). He would have been a marquee no doubt, I cant see any
player we have brought in for next season taking that position
(Marquee). I am guessing one of our current marquee players
would have had to be moved into the cap for Barrett to come in.
So based on that do we still have a few pennies left to play
with. Maybe it was dependent on shifting one or two more out.

I reckon we'll see a couple of marquee players brought in end of
next season. I'm worried we may have had to pay over market
value for Landajo but that's not based on any intel - just the
way I've seen him appear in a few articles as a "big name
signing". Hopefully he's not occupying a "marquee" slot though.
As always, it's hard to tell who are the marquee players in the
squad but Catrakilis, Horwill and Visser leaving/retiring next
season will free up some useful funds given the contracts they
would have signed when they joined in something closer to their
prime. Suspect Danny has maybe gone onto a slightly reduced rate
too given he's no longer a regular international? Did I maybe
hear that confirmed by him on the Pod or somewhere? Probably
making that up... Although in terms of his performance in a
Quins shirt I wouldn't mind at all if he was offered more to
stay - he's one of those players we build everything around,
he's that important.
Trying to think of other players who might be leaving end of
next season who might help us free up funds or move someone
currently occupying a marquee slot out of it. But those 3 will
free up a lot no doubt. Of course, the Cat might opt to leave
this summer if rumour is to be believed - in that case who knows
when we might see another incoming...
