While I've been a big supporter of Wallace, I do think we're
getting the better of this exchange.
A backrow quartet of Baby Chis, Evans, Dombrandt and Clifford
has a lot of firepower between them.

I think tigers will deploy Wallace in a different manner. I
think he'll go well for them.

Tigers have a seemingly clueless policy towards modern back row
fundamentals. Their back row in recent years has been a major
factor in their demise if you ask me, so I don't share your
confidence that they know how to build a unit at the back of the
scrum...

Either way he’s exactly the sort of player we need to offload.
Too many in the squad have been here too long - and this looks
like it’ll be a refreshing clear out.

Evans is a hell of a talent.
But he isn't in the same mould as them.
He's more like a Burssow or Salvi when he was coming up,
excellent fetcher and great rugby brain, but doesn't have the
size or physicality of Underhill/Curry/Willis to dominate a
tackle and then turnover like that.
Still excellent signing for you guys.

Yeah, sorry, wasn't clear. Not suggesting he's a similar player
to them necessarily but we just haven't had a proper on-the-ball
7 who also has a more rounded game (can carry through heavy
traffic and shift when in space) for a long time. Wallace is/was
great over the ball a lot of the time, but never had the low
centre of gravity or weight to break tackles with ball in hand
and although he's tireless and gets around the park, he often
doesn't come away with a lot to show for it.
Basically, I'm hoping Evans is the key to delivering consistent
quick ball to our enviable back line, whilst not compromising
our back row's collective carrying ability (I'm sorry, but
Wallace does). Oh, and just making life hell for the oppo at
ruck time. So that's why I'm excited.

If we have done a swap for Wallace that is a terrible bit of
business for Tigers.

If Evans wanted to go regardless, then Wallace is probably one
of the best available options to replace him. A proven club
flanker is better than no flanker at all.
