Converting the North Stand to be similar to the South Stand
would increase the seating capacity. But those seats would all
be "cheap seats". To increase revenue, you need more expensive
seats (between the 22 lines on both sides). And, you need more
corporate hospitality options, etc. Ideally, you also need
something that generates revenue on non-match days. (e.g.
Hotels, shops) and a place where you can hold bigger events.

I agree with all this. Having an asset that can provide good
sources of non-match day revenue & profit is key towards making
the club financially secure. Given the location, either housing
or a hotel would be reasonable guesses. I doubt shops would
work, given how out of the way it is (relatively speaking). You
might be able to make a case for a restaurant (maybe Michel Roux
Jr. would like to get involved, seeing how he's a supporter of
the club!).
I haven't run the numbers for a few years, but 4 or 5 seasons
ago, we were running an *average* attendance over the season of
over 90% for a number of years. That was with the attendance for
BG removed from the calculation and while we were playing in the
Challenge Cup rather than the Champions Cup. That was a factor
in the decision to look into re-developing the ground, I'm sure.

Quinssa have booked a Q and A with new CEO Laurie Dalrymple for
the evening of the 25th Feb .
Hopefully we will get up to date info then regarding stadium
development.

I don't think it's fair to say that redevelopment proposals were
a vanity project. I think they're entirely sensible but as
several have pointed out, with the team playing badly, crowds
suffer which makes it harder to justify.
The money for stadium redevelopment should come from a separate
pot to money for the squad and coaching staff. Presumably as it
looks almost complete we have missed the boat in terms of doing
something with the college next door. No idea what the deal is
with the council depot behind and if that is still a viable
option.
The problem with a hotel and with some of the conference
facilities generally is having Twickenham Stadium opposite. We'd
have to offer a different product. A restaurant would have to
have a big enough name for people to go there as you wouldn't
really get many walk ups.

Personally, I'd like to see some of the expensive seats give
more legroom

With the new permenant big screens at the corners of the
stadium, new time clocks and scoreboards, they seem to be
investing more into the Stoop. Maybe it is worth them expanding
the North Stand, fill in the corners of South west and north
east, incorporate the control tower within the south west then
maybe look at expanding/upgrading the east after a certain
amount of time.

I doubt it would be that hard to move the scoreboards or the new
screens, to be honest. After all, they were put up in a matter
of days during the season.

I don't think that the club actually invested anything in the
screens.
I think that they are a new sponsor and the sponsor likely
provided them.

There are no cheap seats - I never pay over £30 when I watch
Charlton. A bigger stadium with some sections only £ 20 - £25
would be good to grow the fanbase. No reason why Harlequins
couldn't have crowds of 20,000+. More people even with some
cheaper seats would bring in more money in food sales,
programmes , merchandise and advertising.
For example Charlton's next home game has 4 levels of pricing,
including plenty of adult seats at £24:
Adult £24.00
Over 65
Under 21
Under 18
Under 11
Student
And Charlton have lots of competition in London whereas
Harlequins only have London Irish and the relegated team.
