If you are going to double the capacity, use the off season to
build one of the main stands, then work your way round. You
will lose a stand during the season, but the stand you built
during the off season (Bigger) should compensate for the loss of
the stand under construction (capacity wise).
Another point is the extra events. Hockey at the Stoop during
the summer. Concerts last year. A bigger stadium means more
fans squeezed in for these events, that means more cash for all
involved. I think it is a good move by the club

I love the Stoop as it currently is but definitely agree that
modernisation and a complete rebuild is need rather than new,
larger north stand and then filling in the corners.
I do like having the outseid bits though and hope they can keep
       some of that somehow.
they should look at the Ricoh on a match day and then do the
opposite. I really hope they can keep the sort of clubhouse feel
of the Kings bar. I know if has its issues, in terms of slow
service, too small, etc, but friends who I have brought along
have always said they like the Kings bar post game, like being
able to go to the bars in the corners pre-game, etc. In contrast
when I go to the Ricoh it's straight into the main bowl as
there's nothing outside, then either have to mill around by the
bars which double as the main concourse, or straight to seat to
be "entertained" by whatever drivel they have on. Dreadful
       atmosphere every time.

The other problem with “developing” the existing site is you
just can’t turn it into a modern facility - it won’t work.
Our hospitality facilities are decades behind Allianz Park
considering the cash our corporates and affluent fans have.
       Likewise conference facilities etc.
The interior space just isn’t flexible enough.

However he was also the DOR as well as CEO at the time, and
whilst ME was (is?) a bit of a magician he isn't that good!

For fear of being even more dull than I currently am. Basically
       no one cares.
CVC cashing in on its investment is totally unrelated to anyone
attending a match and entirely dependant on foreign TV companies
       spending money on rights.
And the future of Harlequins depends on being able to make
revenue from the stadium when there is no rugby being played.
So while there is a seats filled v space to use for other things
balance for Quins financially - the more revenue you get from
non rugby activities the less you have to rely on the rugby.
Now I'm not suggesting that Quins want to play in a half-empty
stadium -- but the bottom line financially is that bums on seats
is not the answer to the club surviving independent of massive
       loans.

Encase anyone is interested I contacted the club for an update
on the new stadium plans and received the below:
'Good morning Alex, thank you for your email and Happy New Year
       to you
Unfortunately we were not in a position to begin our formal
consultation during 2019 for the stadium plans and so there have
not been any project updates to supporters or our community in
recent months. We are still committed to delivering a long-term
vision for the redevelopment of the site and we will be sure to
give an update to all our contacts when we have more information
       to provide.
In the meantime if you have any further questions please do not
       hesitate to get in contact.
       Kind Regards
       Henry'
Good that they have the staff to respond!

I’d rather we spend money on the squad then developing the
ground. If you haven’t got a team worth watching the gates are
       hardly going to skyrocket
