I don't think it inspired anything. International teams do not
like losing. Wales fought the entire game to stay in touch and
outlasted England, whose kicking game fed them everything they
needed. Suggesting it's only because it was England is daft -
they just won the Grand Slam...

Jones may come across as a jokey type of character but in the
England camp he is a real piece of work making it a horrible
place to be, basically having 2 of the players run the dressing
room any difference of opinion is reported back and sanctioned,
not a nice place to go to work

half of matches thats for sure.

I'd heard to isn;t a great atmosphere too puts coach against
coach etc a certain method of getting results I suppose. One of
the reasons Gussy left I'v heard. What we saw yesterday though
is the result of that when the pressure comes on then a poor
team response, unlike Wales when the pressure comes on the dig
       in for each other.

So to start - I'll use this from above - In part it's right it
       is a cocktail.
       --- Quote from: Everyone’s a Quinner link ---
       >
       > Think it’s a cocktail mix of a view things. A little bit of
history, topped up with a teasing Eddie Jones, added with a dash
of perceived arrogance and a slice of jealousy that we are still
the only team out of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales to win a
       World Cup.
       > Served gracefully with swing low sweet chariot and in the
great HQ that is Twickenham Stadium, home of English rugby!
       >
       --- End Quote ---
History is the starting point. England have always been called
"the Old Enemy". But we've moved on a lot since those days and
the use of that description is more of a nod to the past rather
than the present. Nationalistic pride does surface when players
are chosen to tour with The Lions. Sir CW was critcised for his
English prefernces as WG was for his Welsh. In the final
analysis nationalism was put aside by most of the players and
strong bonds formed - although there is still disquiet (in
Ireland) for BoD being dropped by Gatland in the final Lion's
       test.
Back to topic - There is a perceived arrogance about the
English team and the red rose army of supporters and Eddie Jones
doesn't help matters with his big mouth. However, I have this
theory that when England do well and I mean REALLY WELL... it
makes/inspires/cajoles the other home nations to play better.
England have been the team to beat in the modern professional
era. Better funded; more teams x players to chose from; a better
professional structure that is head and shoulders above the
       other rugby nations worldwide.
It's as simple as that. England expects! They are the benchmark
to test yourself against. It's why you want to beat them.

       Pathetic?
       Ok.
       We really are bad losers.

Immediately after the Eng Scot match, supporters on both sides
were 'high five-ing' and drinking together in the stadium
'karaoke' bars. Never seen such a lovely display of opposing
rugby fans at HQ. Lovely to see, faith restored!
