I’m genuinely confused. One minute I’m not allowed to say we’ve
got a bad defence that’s going to expose us, the next I’m not
allowed to do maths.

I wouldn't worry... One minute we can beat anyone with a deft
touch and beautiful rugby; the next, we can't even score at home
(I know we got a converted try, but show me the man who thinks
we deserved it, and I'll show you a liar).

So you might say that after today, results that looked like they
helped us actually ended up going against us. Sale and Bath both
part of the immediate chasing pack who gained ground. Of course,
the only result we were in charge of also went against us -
without us really seeming to blink.

Well not completely, Glos have got closer to us but the pack
didn't get vastly closer to Glos as a result of how the other
games fell.
Sale are away at Falcons, Bath away at Chiefs -- if either
manages a bonus point win they would still be 4 behind us and
we'd still be in 4th. But can't see either managing that.

I see what you're saying. But surely any movement closer to our
points by clubs relatively close below us as opposed to a
stretching gap is added pressure on us, given our run in. Which
is not the worst but not the easiest either. I'm expecting Glaws
to be 3rd come the end of the season. I hope we'll grab 4th.But
tbh, as I've said elsewhere, at the start of the season, top 6
was the stuff of dreams. Anything above and beyond that now
definitely feels like a bonus.

Yeah completely agree on all points, somewhere there's a post
where I said all I wanted from this season was signs of
improvement and a team that don't appear to actively loathe and
mistrust each other.
So apart from my (highly-controversial!) suggestion that our
defence has gone backwards since the win against Chiefs I'm
delighted. (Before the backlash begins, it is possible to be
both delighted but also not unquestioningly delighted).

Hi All,
I have read a lot of comments on yesterday's match. For me, we
were outclassed in all areas. Our tactic of shock and awe by
hitting our opponents with 14 points in twenty minutes came back
to us with a vengeance. We never recovered and more
disappointingly, we seemed not to want to recover. I do not
enter the referee blame game because what comes around goes
around and anyway it takes the focus away from the deficiencies
of the team. With a week off and some talks from Gussy, we will
come back stronger and better against Sarries and the others.
Being an eternal optimist, I have taken some positives from
yesterday.
1/ If we are going to get spanked then have it done when we can
absorb the pain. Ooh Err!!
2/ We are still 3rd and have every chance of maintaining that
position or improving on it for the play-offs
3/ Our heads did not go down but that could be because they were
in another place.
And for us personally...
1/ Although this is only our 4th season of being actual members,
we have seen vast all round improvements despite yesterday
2/ Quarter Finals of the Challenge Cup to look forward to and
beyond
3/ Our Academy is bearing fruit
I believe there are more players who want to be a part of us
than be apart from us.
