"Fine," I say, walking out to the outside of the building. I
clicked the pen back and the whole thing started to expand. The
pen tip became a dagger blade with my emblem-a sword of
destruction-engraved on it. The pen itself also shrunk and
became a small hilt. I lightly smirked. "I'm ready. Are you?" I
gave Shaheiro a taunting smirk, while in reality, was focusing
on her weak points. I smeared some tar on the blade so that the
blade would only mark the skin, not cut it.

((*sudden epic battle scene forming in my head* why does this
always happen?))
I pulled the katana out of its sheath, inspecting the blade as I
followed her outside. Barely noticing her smirk, I glanced up at
her once and then held the katana tightly in one hand, and
summoned another blade to go in the other. "Hope you don't
cheat," I said. "The queen wouldn't want her royal mage to get
injured when another war is about to start."
Then both the blades suddenly heated up and burst into flames.
"Now I'm ready," I said, returning the smirk.

I growled slightly. A second katana? Well, if that was the
case... I drew out an extra weapon from my pocket. I knew what
it was, but did my opponent know?
I made the first move. Not smart, but better than sitting out
and waiting for her to attack me. I aimed for a spot slightly
under her arms. I lunged.

With a hiss, I drew aside, only barely getting hit by the blade.
It left a small cut on my arm. I took a step back, calculating
my move and watching to see what Agrina would do next. Though I
didn't feel as though I should use non-weapon magic yet - only
if things started getting serious.

I tapped the blade twice. It hummed and started growing,
turning blacker and blacker. The Sword of Destruction-or at
least a less powerful version of it. Right now I just needed the
length. I gently hooked one flaming katana and tossed it into
the air. If this went badly, I would be in the infirmary for a
month suffering burns. Closer... closer... Yes! I grabbed it by
the hilt and stabbed it into the ground. "No using this one!" I
called. Then I shielded myself with the large blade.

My eyes immediately gained a fiery look to them when she flung
my sword away. "Fine," I said, a smirk growing on my face. "I
see how it is." As I finished my sentence, my remaining sword
blazed, and I rushed at her, then leapt into the air, the wind
fueling my ascent. I landed on the ground behind her and then
lunged at her back, which was unprotected.

I whipped around as the other sword's flames grazed my back. I
hissed in pain. "Bring it on." I snarl, as I am transformed
into my vicious fighter. I clash blades with Shaheiro. I don't
remember who she is. I think, "ENEMY! " and nearly cut her
katana in half. I swirl around and around her with my sword. I
knock her down and take the katana away... blade-first. I poke
the tip of her own katana, still smoldering, near her neck.
"Surrender, enemy, or die." I rasp in a voice that is not my
own. It is the voice of a murderer.

Everything happened too fast for me to perceive it, even though
I should have, being a mage, but what I did know was that
putting a fire resistance shield on every morning had turned out
to be useful. My blade was at my neck, the flames licking at my
face. "Hey, uh, you need to chill," I said, then snapped my
fingers, freezing her and the blade in a block of ice.
I stood up, brushing myself off and distancing myself from
Agrina before snapping my fingers again, freeing her. "I don't
know what happened," I called, shrugging, "but it was probably
my fault." Shaking my head, I muttered, "Like always."

I was confused. I had been sparring with Shaheiro and then
something happened and then I remembered seeing through a
reddish haze as I slashed and danced. And how did that puddle of
water at my feet come about? I realized I must have become the
other me. Blade Dancer Yu. The teachers had nurtured that side
of me, but once I had started, I couldn't stop. I saw slightly
trodden on patches of grass and realized after that... Shaheiro
must have gone. I unsheathed the katana and saw one symbol
blazed into it: the mark of a mage. It slowly faded, but I
realized this sword liked Shaheiro. I ran to the palace and
found the townhouse number of Shaheiro. Perfect. I pushed
through many stalls of people and finally got to the townhouse.
I set the wrapped katana on the doorstep and rung the doorbell.
No one. I pushed it through the mail slot along with a note. I
slowly walked away.
...
Here is your katana. It likes you. I hope you will take care of
it.
If you wish, meet me in the library. I will be studying
personality changes. Don't worry, I won't challenge you to a
duel.

Celes nodded eagerly, her eyes gleaming. Wolf was letting her
leave the palace. She took hold of Wolf's hand, and raised it
gently to her lips to press a light kiss to the tips of her
fingers.
"Are we leaving right away?" she asked curiously. "Or do you
have more work to do beforehand?"
