"Um... I got this fan from a blacksmith who sells high quality
wares and uses exotic tempered steel in their work. I asked them
to engrave the fan with the usual runes of a mage staff. You
know, like those staffs mages use to strengthen their powers?
Anyway, he told me after I got to his shop that 'a friend'
helped him engrave the runes. I know a limited amount about
runes, so I was faintly surprised that the loyalty rune was
engraved on the fan. So now here we are, talking about it." I
say, twisting my lips. The purple Fae landed on the table near
my fingers and looked at me. "Hello, little dragon." I smile,
temporarily distracted.

I'd been up for a few hours, tending to the animals. I was still
a little wary over what the unfilled stable rooms were meant to
contain- but anyway, I was finally done grooming and washing. I
went to a certain stall labeled Arcus- the name of my
gray-and-white piebald gelding. I opened the door, crooned a
greeting, put on the tack, and led him out to mount. "Time to
see if we can find some dragons," I told him. We did it every
other day or on the ones I had extra time for whatever reason.
I mounted and then let Arcus take me where he willed- and then
suddenly we were past the castle, trotting up towards the
forest.
(forgive me I'm terrible at first person why >.>)

"His name is Borea. He likes to eat grasshoppers bigger than his
head,"I said absently, twirling a quill between my fingers as I
thought it over. "If you'll allow, I could do a quick test and
trace the intention of the weave. If it's to inspire loyalty to
a certain person or group, the test will tell me. Honestly, it
could just be a minor rune to make you feel a small loyalty to
the blacksmith and more likely to buy from them again." I paused
and glanced at the height of the sun. "By quick, I mean it would
take about an hour, just to clarify."

"Sure, as long as I can clean up a bit around here." I hurried
on before Tim could give me a "You're kidding" look. "I hear
another person coming up these creaky stairs, and you have
a-well, a huge mess on this table. You have herbs strewn all
over this place. Plus I don't have anything to do for almost the
rest of this day, so it can't hurt to stay here and clean up
for an hour." I finished, glancing at Tim's expression.

"I'll come back," I whispered to myself. Then, slightly louder,
"I should see the blacksmith over a new weapon, anyway- blue, of
course."

I laughed, shaking my head. "I swear, every time someone comes
up here they want to clean. I know where everything is. There
should be labels on most of the jars over there," I said, waving
a hand at a storage/display shelf, "which is where most of those
herbs go...." I trailed off as I very gently unweaved the
loyalty rune just enough to tap into the core of it. "Don't
touch anything that glows," I muttered, frowning in
concentration.

Running up the stairs had turned out to be a bad idea,
especially since I was taking the steps two at a time. Even the
nocturne was huffing, and he was much more agile than myself. I
slowed to a walk, Peacock (the dragon) almost bumping into me.
We both traveled up the stairs, and were grateful when a door
began to show itself around the corner.
I stopped when I reached the last step, trying to regain my
breath, and then pushed the door open. Before I said anything, I
looked around the tower. A fae fluttered around my head and I
gently waved it away. Peacock peeked in, blinking his eyes
curiously. The enchanter and someone else I had only seen in
passing stood in the room, talking. "Hello," I said, brushing a
strand of hair out of my face.

I found a forgotten feather duster in a small nook. I got to
work on the table. There were assorted pieces of parchment lying
on the table and herb bundles tossed randomly on there. I put
the herbs away and stacked the scraps of parchment. There were a
few jars full of glowing stones with mounds of herb dust on
them. I steered clear of those. The table was dusted, and I
didn't bother with cleaning Tim's workspace. Sometimes it's
best to keep everything where it was originally. Especially the
things they were working on. I examined a small scorch mark on
another table. Then I peered at some scratch marks on a wooden
chair. I decided to not ask questions.

((I'll be writing in third person. I hope this doesn't mess
anyone else, but I just feel more comfortable writing this way
;-;))
Celes' gaze was solemn. She took a few steps forward, her hands
clasped in front of her, eyes gazing straight ahead. She placed
a hand gently on her beloved's shoulder, trying not to wince as
pain shot through her arm from where her injury still pulsed.
"Wolf, please," she said, her voice gentle and quiet. "I know
you're blaming yourself for these Wars, that you think you
should be doing something else, something more, but I know
that's not true. I've seen you. I know you. I know no one fights
as hard or as fiercely as you to end them. You seek the same
peace that I seek. The same peace that we all seek, though
others may seek it in ways that oppose ours."

I passed Celes and Wolf returning from the blacksmith,
carelessly swinging my sword. (I fail to think sometimes) But
the instant I saw the Queen and Princess Consort I put it away,
hastily bowed, and sped through the room. It was about time to
battle for the dominance of blue. I just had to grab Arcus and
ready for sniping. Also dragonhunting tomorrow, but that didn't
actually seem all that close right now. "To battle!" I muttered,
speeding into a run.
(I feel like I should become more of my usual random idiocy rn)
