Personal lore/idea dump

This is just some place for me to keep track of my clan lore and
ideas as I work on ironing it out
...this will be somewhat unorganized.

I have this sorta...secret group planned out.
Like...a group in the clan that know more than what they let on.
They know something bads going on or w/e, idk exactly, and they
do things behind the scenes so to speak.
The rest of the clan doesnt know about these going ons and this
group tries to keep it that way.
(Im planning on it being Caelum, Ceodore, Johannah, and
Velveteen. Specter was a part of the group before he died and
lost most of his memories of his past life. Velveteen was chosen
to replace him.
Johanna acts innocent, and truly loves and supports Wilhelm, but
she works to keep him from getting carried away in his work and
creating a monster on accident.)
The clan council and guards know nothing of this group.
Iris
I considered adding Strange to the group, but decided to have
him be a separate thing. Just kinda...doing his own magic-y
thing. Nothing evil or nefarious. He's a good guy, he just didnt
want to be part of the group.
...idk what to call the group...

Idk why this group would be in my lair, what reason would they
have
I need some big bad-y or evil
Maybe something to do with the shade?
Iris
Possibly? But where is this group aligned? Do they want the bad
things to happen or no?

Same, but i want to have it so that happiness is more of a front
or something
Like...most of the clan doesnt even know about that bad things
that are going on and the group (I really need a name for them)
wants to keep it that way.
They want the innocent happiness of their clanmates to stay that
way

I think im gonna have The Shade be the big bad or w/e
My clan thinks that The Shade is just a bedtime/campfire story
meant to keep young hatchlings in-line and not fight with each
other or something, but The Group (i guess thats their name
now...for now...maybe) knows better than this. They know The
Shade is real, and a threat. They fight this threat in order to
keep that innocence. They fight so that their clanmates can keep
thinking that everything is fine, and that the story of The
Shade is just that; a story.
Iris

...omg!
Thats how Spectre died!
He died fighting off the threat of the Shade!
He was off on his own or something- wait wait wait!
He was with Spirit, and they were following a lead of Shade
activity in the area of my clan, or of a Shade follower or
something, tried to fight them and died. His soul ended up in my
clan's graveyard, and he lost all recollection of his previous
life.
Spirit, on the other hand, was only seriously wounded, but was
able to make her way/be found by the clan and was healed. She
too, lost her memory. (She also lost her charge-Spectre)
(She found a new charge, the clan graveyard. Spectre and Spirit
met again, hit it off once more and yay they're back together.
It was always ment to be, lol.)
When the two of them didnt come back or check in, it sent up red
flags to the others, who ended up making their way to the clan
to find out what was going on.
(They dont recognize either Spirit or Spectre because both of
them ended up looking different then what they had before.
Spectre being a ghost, and Spirit having her colors changed
because of near frostbite before, near death, and the run in
with The Shade.)

HTML http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=9064463
A wild dragon, some might say. Never properly raised with a
clan. Untamed and unkempt; one most would be wary of despite her
docile nature, simply because they heard she raised herself out
in the wild. Completely in tune with nature, able to understand
the trees and plants, and converse with the creatures they
house, Dryad truely fits her name.
Through her many years growing up surrounded by it, she has been
able to tune in to the subtle emotions of the forest. Her
natural ability to detect feelings now enhanced by this. Dryad's
enhanced ability allows her to read the emotions of the past,
present, and-- in some cases-- predict the future. Her fortune
telling only goes so far, though, as its mostly educated guesses
built around the future emotions she reads, the current emotions
she reads, and what little she actually knows of the situation.
Her predictions do not always come to pass, but they have more
often been right than they've been wrong.
By attuneing herself to another, she can read them their
personal future even being able to go in depth and pick out an
individual aspect of their future. This has drawn the attention
of several dragons seeking guidance over things they were
uncertain of (if they would get the job they want, if so-and-so
loved them, etc.).
Unfortunately, due to her having grown up without a clan, she
cannot speak common draconian. She's managed to pick up a few
words, but not enough for any sort of lasting conversation. This
is where her mate, Druid comes in. He was the one to originally
find her. Naturally, since she didn't know many other dragons,
she was warry of him. He initially tried talking to her in
common, but when she only showed confusion at his words he tried
something he thought was a bit unconventional; he spoke in the
language of the woods. She immediately perked up, responding in
kind. Over time--and with much perseverance on Druid's
part--they got to know one another. He eventually convinced her
to come to the clan and live with him. He now translates for
her.
Despite how close they are, he is not her confidant. That roll
goes to her dove. Whether it's manifestation of her connection
to nature, her spirit animal, or simply a regular dove, no one
knows, and Dryad never tells.

HTML http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=3070152
Stories.
Caelum heard many growing up in his old clan. Tales of glory and
valor. Treachery, double crossers, regret and heartbreak.
He listend to every one of them with baited breath. Even if he'd
already heard it before. Especially if he's already heard it
before.
His favourites were the ones about the Gods and how they managed
to come together against all odds to defeat the Shade. Caelum
liked how it taught that despite vast differences, if a group
decided to work together they could concur and overcome any
obstacle. Even one as vast and powerful as the Shade.
But thats all they were. Stories. Tales weaved with lessons for
young hatchlings.
The Gods were just an explanation as to why they, and the world
exists as it does; and The Shade was just a fantastical enemy
created to prove their might against in stories.
Many believed these stories. Mostly through blind faith,
admittedly, but they believed none-the-less.
He used to be one of the few who didnt.
Caelum wouldnt laugh at those who did though, and they mostly
left him be about his beliefs. His beliefs made no difference.
He took up jewelry making, collected books, took a mate. His
life was good.
Until it wasnt.
Sometimes... sometimes stories are truer than one might think.
They are often rooted in some form of truth after all.
As it turned out, that 'one' was him.
Those stories he has listened to with such rapt attention as a
hatchling; those he thought of merely as fantastical tales meant
to teach life lessons. They were true.
This he now knew as fact.
Caelum had seen it with his own eyes after all. He experienced
the chaos and horror as his clan was ripped apart. Torn from the
inside out as It watched. As It directed it to happen.
He never thought The Shade could be real, but there it was.
Destroying. Consuming.
He walked through the remnants of his old clan. Empty shells of
homes, most still littered with trinkets and bobbles. Only a few
members remained. All of them worn, empty shells of their former
selves.
The Undertaker had his work cut out for him that year.
Caelum almost wishes the Undertaker would have laid his mate to
rest with the rest of them. Almost.
After that Caelum set off, leaving his old life behind. He wasnt
sure what he would do yet but he figured he needed to do
something. Something to help his mate. Something to prevent what
had happened to him to happen to others. Something to prevent a
greater loss of innocence. Something.
Eventually, he found others that shared his views. Others that
wanted to help. To help try and keep The Shade at bay.
They called themselves The Storykeepers.

Everything hurts. Her head, her hands, her wings. Everything. A
dull throbbing that she has become accustomed to over time,
grown to be a general feeling of cold numbness. Causing
goosebumps to dust her arms. Making them itch, and burn, and
almost move of their own accord.
Almost
Sometimes it will flair up.
Like when she kisses her mate.
Or gives a hatchling a lolli.
Or even prays to one (or all) of the deities. It always seems to
be at its worst when she prays...but it keeps the voices at bay
for a while afterwards, so she continues doing it.
The voices are arguably worse than the pain. Whispering to her
throughout the day. Breaking her down and building her back up
just to tear her down again.
Sometimes they scream. They scream at her to do something.
Something terrible.
They just get louder if she doesnt listen, she knows, but she
doesnt want to listen. She doesnt want it to happen again. She
refuses to let it happen again. Never again! NEVER!
...
Its hard.
Its hard not to listen. Having them there at all times, slowly
eating away at you.
"It wOuLD be so Much eASIer TO Just gIVE In," They tell her.
"I know," is all she says back.
...
It never used to be like this.
She remembers a time before the pain. Before the voices.
When she was happy.
It was a long ways from here. How far, she couldnt recall. Most
of what happened between the incident and now is a blur to her.
She was with another clan at the time. Happily indulging her
curiosities as her mate would read to her or hone his own craft.
She had been studying darker magic at the time. Spurred on by
the tales the clan were so happy to weave.
It was magic that was not attributed to any of the deities.
Something far more sinister and powerful. Magic that could be
dangerous in the right hands, and even more so in the wrong
hands.
And she knew this.
She knew it was dangerous, what she had been doing. What she
didnt realize was just how dangerous.
At least not until it was too late.
...
She can remember the day perfectly...yet not at all.
She had been up all night. Forgoing food in favor of discovery.
Books and pages scattered about the room showing various
scrawlings, illustrations, and diagrams. Beakers and flasks
holding various liquids sat around with a few bubbling from the
heat of the burners under them. She was on the verge of
something big and she knew it.
She excitedly chanted, mixed, and recited; she scurried about
the space tossing ingredients in a pot and reading from the
various texts.
Minutes later she was standing over the relativy small cauldron,
last item in hand. She shivered with excitement. This was it.
She dropped it in and waited...
And waited...
It was hard to notice at first, but slowly the bubbling in the
cauldron sped up. Becoming more violent with each pop.
This lasted for a few minutes before dying down
anticlimactic-ly. With a sigh, she turned to leave.
Thats when it happened.
The cauldron exploded, blasting her across the room and knocking
her against the wall. She blacked out from the impact.
When she came to, she could make out the blurred outline of one
of her clan mates over her. She couldnt make out what they were
saying. All she could hear were the voices. So many of them all
talking at once, each telling her to do one thing or another.
She couldnt focus.
Her stomach rumbled, and everything seemed to stop. Time stood
still.
"fEed."
Her vision sharpened to the point it was almost painful. She
could hear every little breath her clan mate took. She felt
stronger than she ever had; that she could do anything.
She took a moment to soak it all in.
"FEeD. deSTrOY," they said more insistently.
She didnt hesitate this time.
...
The rest of the day is a blur after that. As is most of her and
her mate's journey here.
He came here to try and help her, she knows. Even if he doesnt
quite know the entirety of what happened, she knows he knows
what's wrong with her.
She's happy that he wants to help. And he's done so much good
for others.
But this is her problem. Her fight...
"JUSt giVe iN."
"...No."
And she intends to finish it herself.
