Beginner's Help
By: Jaguar Spirit Date: February 25, 2019, 12:50 pm

Some of you are new magicians...and some are not.
When first stepping foot into magic, it can be overwhelming,
especially if you've never read a thing on it. This thread is
going to assist you, step by step.
People often feel that they can put on a black hooded robe, step
into a circle and say Aberacadabera. Well...you can, but it's
just not that simple. That is Hollywood magic. Here, we are
going to explore REAL magic and REAL connections to the gods. In
fact, I am going to highly encourage FIRST...working to open
your senses. Everything else comes later.
1. Opening your senses. This is being able to hear, see, feel
the gods...their energy, their voice and sometimes see them or
smell them even. Not only is this important for learning how to
communicate with the gods, but also to learn how to SENSE other
entities that do NOT have your best interests at heart.
2. Connecting with a god in an unoffensive manner. Many left
hand practitioners use circles, triangles, and they command the
gods. They order them around, thinking that makes them powerful
and even more powerful than the gods themselves. Of course
everyone has their kryptonite...and unfortunately, some gods
betrayed the other gods and gave that secret away.
3. Connecting with a god. This is evocation. We will focus here
on enns...what they are, how they work, how to use them. Then
sigils...what they are, how they work, how to get them to work.
4. Temple set-up or no set-up evocations.
We will start there with steps one through three. We will
discuss as a group and continue with further steps as we move
along.

STEP 1:
You have your black hooded cape on (I hope not...but it's okay
if you do), and you don't know where to go from here!
Hold on, new magician. We are here to help.
Step one...scroll down to Meditations in the forum and read
Importance Of The Void. Then...Beginners Meditation. Please
practice this until you get into the HABIT of
meditating...learning how to blot everything out and learning
how to clear your mind and get into the state of mind that
changes how your energy flows.
People often think that meditation means breathing.
Well....certain breathing CAN help with certain things. But
meditation is just entering into another state of mind. I
recommend that if you use pranyama (breathing) techniques, that
you do this at the first of the session to just get the BODY
relaxed and slowed.
Read over the meditation assignment and try to remember the
small steps it includes.
Online guided meditations such as those linked in Video's can be
of great assistance.

I feel the need to modify something here. I want to add that
knowing the self is key to knowing what to work on yourself.
See Astrology Section. The site www.AstroMatrix.org has a place
to do a full chart. In it, there are aspects it shows you for
each of your houses and all that. At the bottom is a section
called CHALLENGES. It's going to hurt your feelers, I promise
you...but it's accurate and if you work on those areas of your
life, you might find that your journey will go much better.
I'm actually copying my chart down into a word document so I can
work on it. My feelings are so hurt that I just might cry. But
that's shadow-work and nobody said it was easy. You get out of
life what you put in. Part of that is this work...evolving past
your challenges. A god could help you, or you can help yourself
by ILLUMINATING your challenges and working on them.
I would like you to improve in all areas. Not just learning how
to curse the guy at the Burger King counter for giving you the
wrong change, or whatever ridiculous bane people do that serves
no purpose but petty revenge.

For me it wouldn't be a cape or hoodie. Rather its (Top Only)
Breastplate and Helmet, White Skivvey's Underwear, armed with
D&D Dice out in the woods in the dark of night close to a
Campfire with other wierdo buddies. Choice of weapon is either
a Flail Morning Star (like Belmont from Castle Vania) or a
Lance.
Ok just kidding about the half armor part wioth D&D =)

My "cape" is actually a very luxurious burgundy velvet bathrobe
with a fuzzy collar. I only wear it because I get cold. haha. I
have certain outfits I only wear for certain gods though. It's
not a requirement (new magi) it's just a preference. I wear a
black, very short dress for Prince Azazel. Prince Enlil likes
this black dress I have that has a few large roses on it. I have
a white/gold dress I wear for Prince Enki. etc etc.
Some people work nekkid.
Or don what you do, hehe.
I only played D&D once, 25 years ago (omg has it been that
long?!)

Nice thread, it gives other way to reinforce meditation and
advices about structures.
About clothes....Well we are in the XXI st century :D. Some use
smartphones instead of black mirrors hahaha.

For whatever reason, my attempts at scrying just fail. I bought
a lovely, quite large black plexiglass and it sits unused. :(

Why is that? Is this normal for you?

Many say its not possible to be successful in every kind of
divination. You might be awesome with a pendulum but suck with
cards. Or you might be amazing with cards but suck with scrying
mirrors. I suck with pendulum, but I never really tried to be
honest. I'm just not interest in it.
Personally I think we can be successful with all divination
tools as long we keep practice. Some are naturally more talented
than others in some tools, and you might never become a master
card reader, but you will be able to use it at least for basic
things.
You might see nothing on a scrying mirror in your first
attempts, but keep doing it and eventually you will start seeing
things. The key is to have fun. And I absolutely have no fun
with a pendulum ;D

That can be frustrating. Try some earplugs or heavy duty
earphones that are noise-cancelling and just put some frequency
tones or something meditative for TGS (Theta gamma state). It
can really help.
