Thor, the defender of mankind. God of Thunder, Lightning,
Strength, and Fertility. Also has a link to the harvest. He is
       depicted in the sagas as
a strong warrior, having red hair and beard and fierce eyes.
Son of Odin and Jord, Husband to Sif and strongest of the Aesir.
(in the sense of being able to lift stuff and wreck shit)
Wields Mjölnir, a fairly ridiculous war hammer that was
originally meant to be two handed before Loki's shenanigans, but
Thor decided that "Nah, this is fine mate" after he tried it
out. Granted he needs Megingjord (strength increasing belt)And
Jarngreipr (some presumably enchanted iron gauntlets) to wield
it effectively as he does. Most Asatru folks wear a miniature
version of it on their necks. I wear a bronze ring concencrated
as a magical brass knuckles most of the time.
He's generally good natured but can be quick to anger if
provoked. You can approach him as you would a friend or perhaps
an uncle, no ass kissing required, just don't be a dick. He
might not grant your request but neither will he be angry at you
for making it (unless you ask for something against his nature.
Protection from enemies is reasonable, bashing your mother in
law with Mjölnir is not) I have not worked with him that often
       to be honest.
Traditionally in their heyday Norse gods were given blood
sacrifices, goats, cows, dogs, cats and even human sacrifice
       was, if not common,
not rare either. These days while animal sacrifice is still
practiced by some, it is far more common to give alcoholic
       drinks or food as
offerings. Thor seems to have a liking towards mead, but that
could just be because that's what everyone assumes he likes, so
he figured, better get used to it.
My grandfather was of the opinion that Thor is the same deity as
Ukko, The Finnish high god, who also rules over storms and has a
near identical hammer as his symbol, with the name Perkele being
used for his more wrathful aspect. This deity was his patron so
I am somewhat inclined to believe him. The feel of the energies
are quite similar if not actually the same, in my experience.

Thank you! That was good information! Especially about Ukko.
