Dissolving the COC Non-Profit (Registered Society)

A couple of significant roadblocks have come up for
consideration of dissolving the COC as a Non-Profit (and
continuing as an unincorporated volunteer-run organization):
       1) The club would have no choice but to donate all of its held
funds. I was hoping that we could amend the bylaws so that the
club could walk away with the funds it brought into non-profit
status (or however much is left... the balance is currently
lower than we started with). I have researched this angle, and
       this is NOT possible.
       2) The club would have to cease using the name Calgary Outdoor
       Club.
For these two reasons, I consider dissolving the non-profit
status of COC to be off the table for the foreseeable future.

As discussed, I am not in favour. We can work within the
       guidelines.

There's no way we can justify losing our savings or extremely
"search engine" friendly name. Our registered society status
needs to remain in place indefinitely.
