       Managing Votes at Meetings

       Leondard: Overall sounds good. The logistics of managing active
       members versus nonactive members for a vote causes me pause. I
       think we would have to audit each vote to ensure only active
       member votes were counted perhaps before the vote results were
       announced. For a general meeting of a corporation is open to all
       shareholders to vote whether they are educated for the company's
       plans or not. I know we want people to have a say that are
       invested in the clubs activities, the logistics seem
       overwhelming.
       As well, members who are invested in the club are the ones that
       show up for the meetings so they would be the ones carrying
       votes.
       Rhonda: Regarding the members who are invested being the ones
       who show up, I agree with you to a point.  In the past, the COC
       has had to take measures to contain "special interest groups"
       who wanted to take it in the wrong direction.  We'd need to
       remain mindful of that.  I don't think we're going to get a
       tonne of people showing up for a vote.  Members who are not
       volunteers are generally pretty apathetic about that kind of
       thing.  All they want to do is go out on events and have fun.  I
       don't think it would be onerous to manage the list of members
       who are eligible to vote.  The way I described it is needlessly
       cumbersome.  I've been thinking more about it and it can be
       super simple.  The web site gives us a list of attendees, and it
       can identify who on the list meets our definition of "Active".
       Per the PPT, we could invite people to self-identify as "Active"
       if they don't meet the official definition, and as long as we
       agree that they are "Active", we can tag them on the attendee
       list.  It's really no different from having to check who is a
       Premier member.
       Jim: Voting.  Folks, our biggest problem is getting a quorum.  A
       definition of "active member" will avoid the potential of
       strangers taking over OUR club.
