OMG that sucks Dave! You barely hit the guy, you were almost
stopped. It's simply because of iRacing's crappy damage/repair
model, that our car is out of the race. They really aren't ready
for these events yet, they said they've been working on a better
repair system but it hasn't arrived yet...
Imagine if that happened in real life; they would of changed the
nose of the car, at worse need to repair some suspension damage
also, maybe 10-20 minutes of time to repair. I remember a few
teams in ALMS or WEC having to rebuild a whole car to continue
on racing, maybe within one or two hours. Sure wish that was
possible in iRacing...
Don't feel bad about that Dave, you can't enter every corner so
cautious thinking guys might screw up or you'll get hit from
behind.
10 hours, 6th position, not bad guys.
So far 68% of the field is DNF, I bet you by tomorrow it's 80%.
Now I'm not trying to be pessimist but been racing online for a
while and here at iRacing in massive open events like the old
2.4hr, we had consistently around 50%-60% or more DNFs. And now
we're adding almost 22 hours with different drivers... pretty
tough... :P
ok need to eat supper, lol!
thanks to everyone on the team, you guys are great!

Thanks for being so understanding guys. I mainly feel bad that
MM didn't get to turn a wheel after all the organising he did.
Ruining the event for everyone aside.... I really enjoyed it
Hope to see you all again next time, when I may just stick to
spotting/crew cheifing/watching and keeping my mouth shut -
we'll see how the next two weeks of practice goes

Some people were saying they got a meatball for sitting in pits
to long (overheating?) so if we are ever in pits for a long
period be sure to shut the engine off

I can't wait for the real 24, The racing was so close the whole
time. The clip is from the 8 hour 30 minute mark with the top 3
HPD's.

Nice clip Jack.
Read that a lot about the blown engines...
People already fed up about the damage/repair model, not a
surprise, I'm sure iRacing was expecting that..
Something I posted in the forums: ;D
Monza 2008, Audi R10 destroyed by flip in the air (similar to
some iRacing crashes I've seen). Audi rebuilds the car in 15
minutes!

That was a P1 car, 7 years ago, with real humans. We have a more
simple P2 car and GT3 cars, plus much faster invisible pit
crews, we should be able to repair at the very least a minor
fender bender in 5 minutes! .
In iRacing you get a DNF for simple cosmetic damages, this needs
to be addressed if they want more then 100 people to race an
Endurance event...
If they can't do proper repairs for 24 or 12 hr events then, one
100% repair would be acceptable until they fix their broken
repair/damage model.

I read the information wrong. the $50 each was for the roar
before the 24. 'The class-winning drivers in all splits of the
iRacing Roar Before the 24 will each be awarded $50 in iRacing
credits and all participants will earn iTested Awards.'

Oh so there was $50 dollars on the line. Well they kinda had to
do that if they wanted teams to show up I guess. I still
wouldn't of been in it for the money but wouldn't say no to $50.
70% DNF in our split and a lot of cars looking pretty banged
up...

Yeah, agreed. Wouldve made more sense to have it for the actual
race instead of a possibly bugged/glitched test race. unless
they do both. But yeah either way im going to do it again
regardless of a prize

Only 2 HPD left, 7 GT3s.
I bet you 3-5 cars max finish the race.
Down to 79% DNF...
So don't feel so bad Dave, wouldn't be surprise if no HPD
survives at all. Starting to wonder if iRacing predicted this
would happen same as me and that's why they offered the $50 for
the wins, lol :P
