       Stepping away from endurance
By: Sergey Pupko Date: March 29, 2015, 6:49 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, I just wanted to say that I am stepping away from
endurance racing. It's no secret that my current chair isn't
healthy for my back over a period that lasts more than 2 hours.
Yesterday, I was in pain after the race, and I'm feeling a bit
of it today. I'm actively looking to get a rig, but the cost
involved puts about 500 dollar hole in my pocket. Not the
easiest purchase to make, not with my current income. The reason
for the 500 dollar price tag is because if I'm going to invest
(and yes, I'd call this an investment), I need something to
accommodate a T500 RS and 3 monitors. If I had a cheap wheel
that weighed less and with substantially less FFB, I'd be fine
with a wheel stand. This is the chassis in qestion:

Most importantly, I can't put a price tag on my back. I was
close to a slipped disk 5 years ago (at the age of 20) and it
took a lot of money and many visits to chiropractor to fix it.
Now that it's fixed, I don't want to ruin it again.
That being said, I'm not saying I will not do endurance events,
I'm just saying that I will do less of it. Less stints and
shorter stints. Dave and I swapped every 3 stints (or so) and
after that long my back really lets me know. I will be OK with
       single-stinting though.
EDIT: Also, it all depends on whether or not I end up buying it.
I can buy it, but just need to make sure that I'm not letting my
hobby run my finances into the ground.
       EDIT again:
I had a look through how feasible it is for me to get it, and it
is feasible and manageable. So I placed the order, will arrive
between April 30th and March 15th. Yeah, that's a long wait but
will be worth it when I am finally doing sim racing the right
       way :D

Sounds good Sergey, you have to take care of your back for sure!
I believe Sebring will be my last 5-6 hour race stint, won't do
much more then 3-4 hours, that's enough for my eyes and body.
Glad I did it, tried it out but 6 hours is too long.
Good luck with your rig Sergey!

I think once the cockpit is up and I set it up how I like it I
will be able to do those long stints :)
