Feedback from drivers of 24hr Event

Hey guys, wouldn't mind some feedback from the event, how you
liked it? What you'd change? If you still want to do endurance
races with our team? How much time you think you'd like to spend
in the car next race...?
I apologize once again to stealing 30-40 minutes away from
Eric's time, hopefully you enjoyed the 2hrs in the car.
I believe 2.5-3 hrs is a good amount for me, I don't need more
then that really...
Overall I think we did pretty good for a bunch of complete
strangers getting together last minute for the test race and
then to better our results in the main race.
If I was to criticize my own driving I'd say I was overly
aggressive in my later stints, pushing and driving to climb up
in the top 3. Taking a few too many risks with passing the GT3s,
I think I would of been a lot more cautious had we still been in
the top 3 with an undamaged car.
I think from this experience I can walk away with the belief
that these races, especially in our splits is all about keeping
the car clean. I think the winner averaged like 1:43s so I don't
think fast laps really mean anything compared to being cautious
and keeping the car from damage.
And since we know other drivers can keep their car clean, then
that means we can also. Sebring is a whole other ballgame
though, that'll be a crazy good test! Have done a few endurance
events at that track and it's one of the more difficult tracks
to pass GTs, really need a lot of patience.
Looking forward to more... :D

I can say the same about my driving; I think I was really
aggressive and could have ended the race on multiple occasions
starting with the pass for first (which probably gave Bill a
couple of heart attacks), splitting 2 GT's on oval going 3 wide,
dive bombing almost every lap, but I felt comfortable doing it
MOST of the time since I practiced that kind of driving a lot
during official practice sessions.
Going forward I still support the idea of making it a 2-car
team. Especially for Sebring, which will be a 12 hour race.
I also believe the reason why the leaders were putting in :43's
during the 2nd half of the race was because everyone else was
laps down. They decided that there's no need to push because, I
believe, only 2 HPD's did not accrue damage throughout the race.
They didn't feel the need to push. I know they had the pace
because they were keeping up with us when we were doing 38's and
39's.

I would like to have four drive teams. Five maximum.
I like running endurance racing because it allows for judgement
of speed and safety. Personally I like running three
consecutive stints. About 2.5 hours. That would make some team
strategy as to which drivers take the extra time.

I loved everything about it. The build-up and the sense of a
real event taking place. The fear that I'd do something stupid
and ruin the race for everyone. The relief that I didn't.
Everything.
As for my race, at the time I felt I'd been too cautious and
lost too much time - dropping us back to second in my first
stint. But sitting here now I'm happy that I took the slow but
safe approach. Especially early in the race when a minor tap
will cost 1-2 seconds per lap that you're going to carry for 500
plus laps. A thousand seconds that's .....errrrrrrrrrr...... a
long time (16 mins 20 seconds). So all in all, I'm pleased with
the way it went.
I don't think any of the teams in our split went without some
damage and a long visit to the pits. I looked back through the
winner's lap times and there was definately a 10 minute lap in
there. I think it was just that it happened late in the race.
Anyway, can't wait to do it again. One observation though -I
think everyone would have liked more time in the car. But then
we're already considering the additional car/s thing so that
should sort that.

Exactly the same. I was so nervous about wrecking the car for
the hours leading up to my stint, then that accident happened.
Then i was gutted after i wedged the front half of the car into
the guardrail after seeing what the car was like.
Anyhow, beside my first big series win (daytona 500 last year)
this is my favorite race so far. the teamwork and strategies
needed to thrive in endurance racing is awesome and has given me
more appreciation for road racing. (mainly oval guy)
but yeah was fun.

Tons of fun for me too, way more exciting than any other race!
I agree with bill - 8 was a bit much for one team, 4-6 per team
would be ideal i think too.
And for sure slow and steady wins.. i suppose like weve
mentioned, underdriving a car by 2-3 seconds per lap to be safe
would sure pay off, even if we are lower in positions, just
means that when the leaders slow, or get damage, we can just
pick up the pace to overtake. I think we were all careful most
of the time, but theres always a spot where you think you can
pass 2 cars, or squeeze in, forgetting that the other racers
might not have the same race plan and leave a tiny bit more room
