The daughter of Death [Private thread]

Rainbowpaw poked her head out of the
apprentice's den, breathing in the crisp winter air. All was
surprisingly peaceful for once in Rainbowclan's camp, Prey was
running good, even in the winter, and her Assassin training had
been going well.
But there was one thing that was bothering the life out of her.
Rainbowpaw bit her lip and glanced over at Darksmoke's den. She
needed to speak with him.
Carefully, Rainbowpaw made her way towards his den. She poked
her head inside. "Darksmoke? Can I come in?" She asked a bit
nervously. She didn't want him to snap at her.

OOC: You spelled carefully wrong, Doodle. xDD I edited that for
you. It was bothering me.
Darksmoke raised his head. He was in his den, eating a fat vole
when he heard Rainbowpaw ask to come in from outside his den.
Darksmoke blinked his red eyes. Rainbowpaw didn't know he was
her father, and he had been keeping it a secret from her. He
hoped that she hadn't started to get suspicious because of the
strange way he acted around her during training. He couldn't
help it. Rainbowpaw was the only thing of family he had left.
"Y-yes? Come in Rainbowpaw." Darksmoke said a little bit softly.
He normally spoke to cats in a growling voice, but around
Rainbowpaw he also spoke softly and...kindly. Which seemed
impossible for Darksmoke.
Once Rainbowpaw was in his den, Darksmoke sat up and looked at
her. "What do you need to speak with me about? And can I get you
anything?" He asked. "Is there something troubiling you?"

OOC: xD Thanks, Hawky.
Rainbowpaw rolled her violet eyes as she stepped into the den.
"Yeah, there's something bothering me. You!" The Assassin
apprentice growled to her mentor, her fur bristiling. She knew
that if Darksmoke didn't strangely act kindly towards her, she
would have gotten her head ripped off right after she had just
said that. But for some reason, Darksmoke didn't treat her like
a normal apprentice. That was bothering her and she wanted to
know why.

Darksmoke's ears twitched. The tone of her voice made him
nervous. Had she found out? The dark tabby leader stared at his
daughter, looking shocked for a moment before he calmly sighed
and stood up, staring at her with gentle eyes.
"Me? What is it about me that is bothering you?" He asked,
biting his lip. He hoped she hadn't found out...how would she be
able to? He hadn't told anyone. But Blueriver....

Rainbowpaw's eyes hardened and her tail
lashed. "Stop speaking so kindly to me!" The apprentice hissed
angrily as she flexed her claws. "What's bothering me is that
you speak all nice to me, even when I yell at you! You don't
treat me like you treat the rest of the cats in our clan!"
Rainbowpaw growled. "I don't understand. How am I different from
every other cat in the clan? Why is it me you treat with such
kindness? It can't be because I'm your apprentice, you've had
apprentices before and you treated them like any other cat!"
Rainbowpaw blinked after she spoke, and then she crouched.
"Um..sir." Rainbowpaw whispered. Even though he had never yelled
at her, she had just yelled at him, and she had never yelled at
him before. She didn't want him to blow up and hurt her, it was
just that she wanted to know why he was so nice to her.

Darksmoke's instinct told him to chop Rainbowpaw in half at that
very moment, but he resisted it. The dark brown tabby stared at
his fiery daughter with expressionless eyes. An uncomfortable
pause settled in between them, and then Darksmoke spoke.
"I...I don't know what you mean, Rainbowpaw." Darksmoke lied. He
sat down and looked around nervously. "I uh...treat you like I
treat every cat in the clan." He said. He knew he was lying
right to her face, but he tried not to look like he knew that.
