Well not all change is good all the time but in their situation
the change that is happening now for them is good them being
here and getting a new start at life is good change

I just think your dad would say just try to be their friend and
if you see something you can help them with Just do your best.
Just be kind to them. Show them that you want to be their friend
and that you are nice
